INTRODUCTION
Management is a process of controlling and dealing with people or things of the
organisation in effective manner (Cameron, and Rössler, 2018). The report summarize about
management structure and business functions which is needed in an organisation. It also describe
about marketing functions and management functions. It further describes about HR and Talent
management.

Analysing management structure and business functions
Organisational structure refers to a system which describe how to direct certain activities
of the organisation effectively in order to achieve goals in effective manner. Management refers
to a process of planning, organising and controlling different functions and resources for
achieving organisational resources (Curuksu, 2018). Management theories are refers to set of
general rules which helps manager in order to manage different functions of the organisation in
effective manner. These theories are classified into three such as classical management theory,
modern management theory and behavioural management theory.
There are different type of organisation structures such as functional, hybrid, matrix and
divisional which is classified according to company's size and their functions. Some of the
organisational structure with their advantages and disadvantages are described below:
Functional structures- This type of organisational structure are used in those company
where employees are divided into different department based on their set skills, goals and
accountability (Diklić, 2018). It provide proper support to the employees for their substantial
specializations. It can increase the costs in organisation, decrease efficiency and create barriers
for completing the task. For example, in Unilever its management use functional structure in
their organisation.
Divisional structures- In this type of organisational structure help companies in order to
achieve their goals by allowing their employees to collaborate and shared organisational
objectives while maintaining their focus on their own goals. It helps them deploy and develop a
new product quickly. It create autonomy and decentralization in the organisation. For example,
McDonald's Corporation, its management use divisional structures in their organisation.

Business functions are refers to different activities which is operate by a company in
effective manner. These activities are divided in different functions of the company. The four
important business functions that is performed in a company are operation, marketing, human
resources and accounting (Edelson, Senk, and Stock, 2018). Role of operation function in a
company is to produce goods and services. In marketing, its role is to promote company's
product and services in the market. Human resource recruit, select and train employees for the
company. Accounting is manage all the financial activity of the company. All these functions
helps companies in order to earn maximum profit in effective manner.
Analysing marketing functions
Marketing functions refers to various functions of the company which includes selling,
buying, storing, transporting, grading and standardizing, risk taking, financing and securing
relevant marketing information in effective manner. Marketing is important for other functions
of the company in order to make them effective for performing their task in effective manner.
Relation of marketing functions with other functions of the organisation are described below:
Marketing functions has a close relation with production functions. It provide proper
research about market in order to develop a plan for fulfilling customers need and wants in
effective manner. It also help them in order to manufactured product according to the quality and
design want by the customer (Parker, 2018). Production functions help marketing functions in
order to provide proper information about product in order display their product to the customer
in effective manner. For example, in Tesco its marketing function provide proper research about
customer wants to its production department whereas production department provide proper
information about product to the marketing department.
Marketing function is relatively connected with finance functions of the company. It
ensure about adequate budget of the company that is needed for the research, promotion and
distribution. Finance function provide proper budget to the marketing function in order to market
their brand or product and services in the market in effective manner. Whereas marketing
provide proper information to the finance department in order to make future budget in effective
and efficient manner. For example, in Unilever its finance department provide proper budget to
its marketing department. Its marketing department help its finance department in order to make
future budget

Marketing and human resource management department is also has a close relation with
each other. Marketing help HR department by advertising about any vacancy in the organisation
in order to attract more candidates for the job. HR department recruit, select and trained
employees of marketing department in order to make them perform effectively. For example,
Sainsbury its HR department helps its Marketing department by providing productive employees
whereas marketing functions helps its HR department in order to recruit employees for the
organisation in effective manner.
Analysing management functions
Management functions refers to a process of managing various activities in effective
manner. Henry Fayol described 5 important management functions that is planning, organising,
commanding, coordinating and controlling (Uzo, Shittu, and Meru, 2018). According to Henry
Fayol, these functions are universal in nature and it is important for the manager to perform these
functions while managing various activities of the organisation. These roles and responsibility of
these management functions are described below:
Planning- It is an thinking process which helps organisations in order to plan their goals
and make their vision in order to perform future activity in effective manner. It is the
responsibility of the manager to evaluate future problems and issues which affects the
organisation and develop future objectives.
Organizing- It is a system in which power and authority is established for the selected
work, people and workplace in order to make them perform effectively. According to this
functions Managers are responsible for recruiting right people for the right job in the
organisation.
Commanding- It makes the manager to supervise their employees in their daily task and
influence and motivate them in order to achieve organisational goals in effective manner. It is the
responsibility of manager to interact and communicate with other employees in effective manner.
Coordinating- It make managers to get ensure about performing each and every activity
in proper manner by using proper resources in right time at right place. It helps manager to
manage each resources of the organisation in effectively in order to achieve organisational goal.
Controlling- Manager should control every factors in effective manner in order to meet
objective of the company. This makes manager to controlling those activity which is need to get
improved for achieving organisational goals in effective manner.

These management functions has a interrelation with each other. Planning helps manager
to make decision for performing future task in effective manner and organising helps manager in
order to organise resource for the accomplishment of the task and achieve set goals in effective
manner. After organising each resources effectively, manager should direct them properly in
order to achieve set target in effective manner. In coordinating function, it help manager to
ensure about the directions are coordinate with each other in order to achieve organisational
goals in effective manner.
Analysing HR and Talent management
HR department helps companies in order to manage employees' life cycle that is
recruiting, on-boarding, hiring, retaining and training (Yilmaz, and Flouris, 2019). It also
maintain employees benefits in effective manner. Roles and responsibility of HR that is
important for the company are described below:
Recruitment of candidates- One of the basic role and responsibility of HR is to hire
suitable candidate for the organisation. It is important for the HR to develop a recruitment
procedure for recruiting candidates for the vacant position of the company. It analyse and
identify skills, knowledge and experience which is needed to for the job in order to recruit
candidate for the organisation.
Hiring the right candidate for the right job- It is important role of the HR in order to
select or hired right employees for right job in order to make them effective for performing their
task in effective manner. They first advertise about vacant job in job search platforms then select
suitable applications form it and then hired those candidates which is most suitable for the job.
Talent management refers to a process of HR in which they attract, develop, onboard,
motivate and retain high productive employees in the organisation. It is important for the
organization in order to improve their performance by using different practices which help
employees to improve their skills for becoming more productive for the organisation. This helps
employees in order to achieve their objectives in effective manner.
Organisational culture refers to an effective and psychological environment of the
organisation which can be develop with the help of underlying assumptions, belief, values and
ways of interacting with each other in the organisation. According to Handy's culture model
there are four types of organisational culture that is role culture, power culture, task culture, and
person culture. These cultures is classified according to different level authority in order to make

decision. Task culture is strong in nature which allows each members of a team to contribute
their efforts equally in order to complete task in effective manner. Power culture is weak in
nature in which powers remains in few hands of employees in order to complete task in effective
manner.
CONCLUSION
From the above mentioned report, it is concluded that management help companies in
order to manage their functions in effective manner. Functional structures and divisional
structures help companies in order to manage various function in better manner in to achieve
their goals. Marketing department has a effective relation with other department of the
organisation. Planning, organising, commanding, coordinating and controlling are the different
function of management.
