INTRODUCTION
Management plays a vital role to achieve organisational goals in a very effective and
efficient way. Effective management includes planning, directing, staffing, controlling and
organizing the organisational resource in a great way. Sainsbury's organisation is a supermarket
company. In the UK, Sainsbury is a third biggest chain of super markets. The company has a
control over 15.3% share in the supermarket sector. The organisation founded by John James
Sainsbury in 1869. This report will includes introduction of the organisation and its management
structure. This report will also highlight the definition and roles of managers and leaders in the
organisation and the various differences between the management and leadership. This report
will also state the interrelation within the business functions of the Sainsbury's organisation and
also includes the theories of management.
MAIN BODY
1 An introduction of the organisation and its management structure
Organisation refers to a process or act conduct specific tasks by group of people who
comes together for conducting that task. It is a process and act to identifying and gathering the
task to be performed, establishing relationships with the group of people, delegating tasks and
responsibilities for the purpose of encouraging people to conduct task in a most effective manner
for achieving objectives or goals (Chance and Brooks., 2015). Organisation is known a group of
people who works together to accomplishing objectives in a better way. Every organisations
have different rules and policies according to the locality, culture and work environment. It is
association of persons and they try to achieve organisational goals as well as private goals. The
organisations includes three types of business such as partnership, corporation and sole
proprietorship. The Sainsbury's is a public limited company and a retailing industry. Sainsbury's
is a supermarket company. It is a UK's third biggest chain in super markets industry.
Organisation is established by multiple people for gaining specific objectives. Sainsbury's
organisation adopts the systematic functions and great management in their business operations.
Organisations have various types such as government, non government organisations,
corporations, international organisations, non profit organisations, cooperatives, partnerships,
political organisations, educational institutes etc (Waugh., 2015).
The management structure of the organisation includes power, roles and responsibilities
and its assignment, control and coordination. The effective organisational structure manage these
