INTRODUCTION
Management refers to the process of collecting people together for the purpose of meeting
the desired goals and objectives of organization by the proper utilisation of available resources in
an efficient and effective manner. If the organization is considered as a system then the
management can also be said as human action. Human resources financial resources natural
resources technological resources are the various resources within the management. This report
is based on Burberry company which is a luxury fashion house having headquarter in Horseferry
Road Washington London England. Their main focus is on designing and distributing ready to
wear clothes which include foot wears, eyewears, fashion accessories, fragrances and Cosmetic.
This report is prepared for the purpose of explaining management structure and business
functions. Along with this it includes marketing functions in relation to business success. It also
covers the topics of Management functions talent management and organizational culture.
TASK 1
Outline the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of organizational structure
There are various structures of organization explain by various corporate professor. Which one
structure of organization is suitable for any business is depend on some characteristics of
business which includes size of business numbers of employee and many more (Ahl, H., 2019).
some of them are explained below:
Entrepreneurial structure
This is structure is also known as simple structure as it is the the oldest and common organiza-
tion structure which is used by various small and industrial unit of organization. Under this struc-
ture owners make all the decisions full stop this structure is highly centralised it is informal
structure.
Advantages
i. It helps the organization in taking quick decisions.
ii. This structure is highly reactive to the changes of environment.
Disadvantage
i. It demotivates the employees at it do not allowed them in participation in decision mak-
ing process.

ii. It do not clear the responsibility of employees which may create confusion and conflict in
the organization.
Functional structure
Organization which is offering single product or service use functional structure. Under
this structure the organization is divided on the basis of functions such as Material Management
marketing production finance and accounting and many more.
Advantages
i. This structure allows division of labour and makes sure their specialization.
It also creates the environment of coordination among all the departments of organization (Aula,
P. and Mantere, S., 2020).
Disadvantages
i. Each department start working like each individual unit.
ii. It becomes difficult for organization to work because of increase in number of geographic
areas.
I. Define business functions and their responsibilities
Business functions can be defined as a group of activities which are done by management
of a business for the purpose of carrying out the profit. It can be said that it is a process or opera-
tion which is performed routinely for the purpose of carrying out a part of mission of an organi-
zation. Marriage organization make various departments according to their need. Production
sales marketing accounting are various examples of business functions. It has the organization in
completing their task smoothly. Following other various functions of business with their respon-
sibilities:
Sales and marketing
This function of business works for the promotion of business operations. It helps the or-
ganization to reach at their desired goals and objective. Marketing helps the audience in knowing
about the organization which ends with the sales. The Burberry has divided corporate sales and
marketing department which is responsible for the promotion of products and providing Cus-
tomer services.
