INTRODUCTION
Management is a kind of attainment that helps an organization in achieving their main
organizational goals in an effective and appropriate manner by focusing upon planning,
organizing, controlling, directing, and by managing organizational resources including
employees, machine etc. in an effective and appropriate manner (Meyers and et.al., 2020).
Management is one of the most important function of an organization. Sometimes it is also
defied as a way through which people and other resources are used for accomplishing main
business objectives in an appropriate manner. It is one of the main responsibility of management
of an organization to identify long and short term goals and objectives of company, analyse and
review performance of all the employees and then on the basis of develop strategy so that desired
goals and objectives can be achieved in pre-defied time period. Burt however changing business
environment, market needs can create various kinds of challenges that can be faced by
organization (Nguyen-Khac, 2021). This report will focus upon a case study of Sports Direct
who are facing some management challenges due to rise in online shopping and current Covid-
19 crises. This report will focus upon Staffing and HR problem that are being faced by Sports
Direct and will further focus upon discussing ways in which new talented managers can be
attracted, current talented managers and employees can be retained, and ways in which gender
pay gap in terms of bonus payment can be reduced. Further in this report justification of key
proposal solution will also be provided in order to understand ways in which Sports direct will be
resolving the issue or problem.
MAIN BODY
Analysis of problem
Sports Direct is facing various challenges in terms of staffing and retaining good quality
store managers. These challenges are being faced by organization due to current pandemic
situation of Covid-19 because in this situation trading has become a bit difficult. They are facing
financial pressure; employees are leaving organization before within 6 months. Sports Direct has
also developed their own job search site in order to attract more talented employees or managers
but despite of these actions they are failing in attracting more talented employees. It has further
been identified that Sports Direct do not have any kind of gender pay gap among men and
women but they do have gender pay gap in terms of bonus where women median bonus pay is
48.3% lower than men. It is one of the main reason due to which talented female managers leave
