1 INTRODUCTION TO MANAGEMENT According to Robbins, Bergman and Coulter (2018:5), managers make difference on the organisation’soverallperformanceandproductivity,eitherpositivelyornegatively. Discuss how the three management skills identified by Katz (cited in Robbins et al, 2018:13) may affect a manager’sabilityto have positiveinfluence giventhe global connectedness of the external environment. Include examples in your discussion. Introduction It is the role of the managers in the organization to impact the performance and productivity of the organization. The mangers of the organization can directly influence the employees of the organization to enhance their productivity and performance in the organization. The managers of the firm, are responsible to co-ordinate the activities and productivity of different departments to achieve the overall objective of the organization. Therefore, it can be said that the mangers of the organization play an important role in shaping the culture and productivity of the organization (Bos‐Nehles, et al., 2013). By setting the goals for every department, organizing the activities of the team, motivating and communicating decisions of the organization, and measuring the actual performance with the targets, the mangers makes a differences on the overall productivity and performance. The purpose of this essay is to identify the management skills of Katz and its impact on the manager’s ability influence global connectedness of the external environment.
2 INTRODUCTION TO MANAGEMENT Discussion Management skills can be defined as the specific ability of the executives and senior managers of the organization in order to complete the tasks of the organization and coordinate the activities of the organization. These skills that must be possessed by the mangers and the executives are required to perform and execute their specific duties and tasks, while avoiding errors and promptly handling the crisis situations of the organization. The managers of the organization must have the potential skill and knowledge which is required for the success of any organization and achieve its goals and objectives (Shamsi, 2017). According to Robert Katz, there are three main managerial skills that are required by the managers of the organization to deal with the managerial problems effectively and efficiently. In order to dealwith the managementproblemsthe managersof the organizationrequired knowledge and experience. The essential skills that are identified by Katz are: Technical skills, conceptual skills, human and interpersonal skills. Technical skills:The managers of the organization must possess sufficient knowledge and ability, to imply different techniques to achieve the desired results of the organization. The technical skills are necessary to increase sales of the organization, design various products and service, initiate innovation in the organization. Technical skills are required in the organization by the managers of the first level, for the top level managers, technical skills are not very essential. The managers with technological skills will be able to positively influence global connectedness in the external environment, with the modern technology for environmental scanning(Seyedinejat,Razaghi&Dousti,2014).Themanagerstoinfluenceglobal connectedness must focus on individual market. The managers of the organization must have the technical skills to analyze the data to external environment in order to good decisions. Therefore

For example, exponential technologies and the ability to use the technology helps the business to take a peak towards global connectivity. Various automation and technology enables the corporate managers to influence positively towards global connectedness. Conceptual skills:The conceptual skills are required by the organization to enhance the abstract thinking ability of the managers. The company consists of various departments with different goals. The conceptual skills of the organization helps the managers of the organization to have a broad look over the functions and activities of the organization, use the ability of the managers to scan the external environment and take decisions to influence global connectedness of the organization. These skills enable the managers of the organization to consistently diversify the workplace and the customer base of the organization (Robbins & Coulter, 2018). With the application of these skills, the managers must better access the products and services offered by the company and make the business activities have global connectedness with the external environment. The managers also require these skills to perform the day to day responsibilities andmanagethebusinessactivities,therebyinfluencingglobalizationanddiversity.The conceptual skills of the managers will enable the managers to develop and promote the team spirit and globally connect with the external environment. It allows the mangers to think accurately and provide timely feedback; these skills of the managers enable the business organization, to influence organizational adaptability. It enables the business to increase the organization’s ability to observe and analyze the external environment effectively and positively influence global connectedness. These skills are present the knowledge and ability of the managers in the organization to work with the employees and personnel of the organization. These skills enable the managers to motivate the leaders and employees of the organization for better accomplishment of the desired results of the organization. These skills help the business organization to effectively use the potential of employees in the organization to influence global connectedness. By effectively controlling the employees, the managers can positively influence the global connectedness in the organization (Pandya, 2014). The human and interpersonal skills of the mangers helps the managers to control to employees and the activities of the organization to better influence the organizational activities towards global connectedness of the external environment. The managerial skills of the managers help the business organization to increase the business potential and produce in a more considerable way. The interpersonal skills of the organization are required to better influence the organization. For example, having patience, active listening ability, problem solving ability, empathy, adaptability, and leadership abilities can enable the managers to effectively deal with the external environment, analyze them and influence the activities of the business to global connectedness (Robbins & Coulter, 2018).
5 INTRODUCTION TO MANAGEMENT Conclusion Therefore, from the above analysis, it can be said that the skills identified by Robert Katz, that is the technical skills, conceptual skills and the human, interpersonal skills are required by the mangers of the organization to positively influence global connectivity with the business organization. The technical skills are required by the organization to analyze the external environment of the business and analyze the factor to influence global connectivity. Further, technical skills enable the mangers to influence the performance of the organization and their productivity. The conceptual skills are required by the mangers by encourage creative thinking and innovation in the organization, this abstract thinking ability of the managers help the business organization to enhance its performance and productivity of the organization. The humanandinterpersonalskillsofthemanagershelpthemtoinfluenceinteractionand communication in the organization which in turn positively impacts the performance and productivity in the organization.These skills enable the managers to motivate the employees to perform better and influence the business activities towards global connectivity in the external environment.The interpersonal skills of the managers are required to influence the employees and leaders of the organization and influence them to organize the activities which would positively influence the global connection in the external environment. Thus it can be said that the managerial skills discussed above by Robert katz, positively influence the performance and productivity of the organization.
