INTRODUCTION
People management is a part of the human resource management and have various Hr
activities like job training, motivation mapping, listening sessions, mentoring and conflict
resolution and employee appreciation so that the organisation management runs effectively to
achieve the goals. Tesco is a multinational groceries retailer (Schooley, 2021). It is founded in
1919 by the Jack Cohen. Its headquarters are in Welwyn garden city, England, UK and
Hertfordshire. Tesco classified itself in the supermarket, hypermarket, superstore and
convenience shop. This report is discuss upon the Tesco contemporary issues faced by the
mangers to manage people, knowledge skills and behaviour required for the people manager and
the HR process for the effective performance manager.

Covid 19 affects many businesses, every organisation in the world faces issues to effective
perform in this pandemic by doing all the work from the home and managing people. Tesco also
faces many issues in managing their people through effective working. Some of the
contemporary issues are
Mental health and well being
With the sudden shift in the working culture due to covid 19 leads to stress, anxiety and
other mental issues in the mind of the employees. Earlier Tesco initiates the wellness
programme, gave employees security, flexibility and the health benefits that helps to overcome
their health issues. But with the sudden covid 19 outbreak where the Tesco is a groceries retailer
and a supermarket where all the necessary items are sold, employees of the organisation has to
work on the regular basis and have always fear of the virus that affects their mental health
(Podgorodnichenko, Edgar, and McAndrew, 2020). This led to decreases the productivity of the
employee work.
Being understaffed
Because of the covid where the demand was increasing of the groceries and the people
are not feeling safe to came out the staff of the Tesco is not sufficient and that time Tesco is
understaffed and they are in urgent need of hiring more employees and it is the most challenging
task as no one feel safe to cam outside and work and at that time they want to hire the
employees. It affects the work of the company and managing the things in the organization.
