1INTRODUCTION TO PROGRAM AND ACQUISITION MANAGEMENTThe roles of the Executive Branch, Congress, and defense industry in Defense AcquisitionThe defense acquisition system can be defined as a single standardized process through which all the mechanisms, equipment, amenities, and services are strategized, improved, innovated, acquired, preserved and disposed of f by the Department of Defense (DOD). The procedure includes policies and decision making and exercise that regulate the process of acquisition, recognizing, categorizing and prioritizing resource requirements, maintaining and calculating the process. It also concludes by reporting back to the congress. There are three main pillars in the process of defense acquisition: firstly the Executive Branch of the Federal Government, the Congress and the defense industry. Every participant of the acquisition system has a vital role to and also brings along a unique point of view of its own in the process (Clowney, Dever & Stuban, 2016). The executive branch of the federal government: This group consists of members like the President, the Department of Defense (DOD), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), theDepartment of State and the National Security Council (NSC). The first and foremost duty of thisgroup is to formulate and execute policies of regarding the national security. It also has to direct the policies in order to be implemented by the institutions involved. The prime objective of the executive branch is to understand and determine the security requirements of the state and then implement policies in order to satisfy those needs. It also has to keep a check so that a balance in the structure can be maintained. It also requires to build a steady weapon system in the country tobe able to combat the alarming threats on the national front (McNicol & Wu, 2014).The congress: The Prime concern of the Congress is to maintain a situation of internal and external peace, in order to do so the congress checks and balances the conflict in between the authorities while decision making and policymaking strategies and also creates equilibrium in
