Code of Conduct
Introduction
IOOF is a holding company operates in Australia and New Zealand and the head
office of administration is in Melbourne. The company provides services of wealth
and platform management, trustee services and facility of financial investment
for resulting revenue. The code applies ASX principles in the company (IBIS
World 2018). The purpose of the code is to understand the needs of the
customers, looking after them for providing services and securing their future.
IOOF conducts its business ethically and professionally to live with values and
purposes. This Code derives standards by decisions and actions, policies, and
behaviour directed strategically to achieve the goal (IOOF 2018). In this report,
discussing the IOOF Holdings code of conduct by defining policies and laws
against discrimination, exploitation, dishonesty and fraud behaviour with
employees in the company, enforcement, and whistle-blower protections from
the individuals who disclose their identity at the workplace in the business
operates.
Discrimination
Discrimination is treating someone unfairly on the basis of their features which
are protected by the law. The discrimination made is on the basis of features
mentioned in Equal Opportunity Law, 2010. There are anti-discrimination laws for
employees to protect themselves from unfair treatment which includes the
stages of employment as recruitment process depending on the positions,
unethical terms and conditions, not providing training opportunities, transfers,
promotions, performance pay or other benefits by making judgements on the
basis of individuals’ features such as age, race, religion, gender, nationality,

disability and more (Benstead 2018). Sexual harassment is counted in
discriminating anyone by their sexual conduct which can be written, physical or
verbal; and can offend and not expected by any individual at the workplace. In
IOOF, employees are free to speak for themselves and report to the superior
authorities. There are many policies to avoid discrimination and make a safe
working environment for employees. Employees need to get motivated to speak
against any unfair practices with them or suspected in the company without any
fear. The company provides full support and IOOF commits to the employees for
making them feel secured without any discrimination.
For instance, in a company, there is a requirement of employees to work for 10
hours rather than 8 hours for treating everyone equally but it is a drawback for
employees because of their family responsibilities; this shows indirect
discrimination (Husu 2010). IOOF believes in work with self-respect and dignity of
employees for a positive environment, and to avoid discrimination based on their
characteristics. This Code makes sure to fight against the misconduct in the
company and to take action against it. It is important for employees to have
knowledge about their rights where they need to follow the ASX (Australian
Securities Exchange) principles mentioned in the contract of employment for
employees. The company is strict for the applicability of regulations to be
followed and to understand the law for fostering positivity and productivity
(Thompson 2017).
Exploitation
In today’s environment, women are suffering from mistreatment at the
workplace and to be targeted for misbehaviour which means to exploit.
Moreover, employees conduct such activities by disobeying the laws and
regulations for their self-interest which is illegal. Every company provides
