Abstract— The report is based on the implementation of IoT
based solutions within the restaurant industry. The main focus of
this report is to enrich the traditional restaurant business
services into a newer form of model. The report discusses about
the various form of applications based on IoT within the business
environment. Based on the implementation of smart solutions,
the report concludes that these form of solutions would be helpful
for enriching the experiences of customers and thus ensure
higher profit margins within the business.

I. INTRODUCTION (HEADING 1)
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a transforming technology
that is able to create an interconnected form of network
between each of the devices [1]. This form of network is based
on the theory of total connectivity. There are different form of
devices, which are able to share and thus analyze the points of
data. The concept of IoT is very useful and can be widely used
within the restaurant business. The implementation of IoT
could be regarded as a factor of revolution within the
restaurant and food industry. With the help of IoT connected
network, customers would be able to book their foods without
the need of asking waiters to come to their tables, improve the
operations within the business, smart menu system and direct
form of payment from table [2].
II. BODY
The impact of IoT and different forms of smart and
connected devices have made a major form of impact within
the consumer based industry. With the help of the increasing
number of smart devices within the internet framework based
within restaurants it has brought a lot of changes in which the
work would be done within the sector [3]. The technology of
IoT would be applied to restaurants in order to keep a track
and monitor the various kinds of equipment that are able to
measure the various factors within the sector. These would be
able to cook, clean dishes and store the food products.

At the restaurant technologies, the implementation of IoT
based technologies would be of great help for the collection of
data in relation with cooking of dishes, the amount of usage of
cooking oil. These technologies would also be able to provide
different kinds of critical information to the customers. With
the gained information from the data generated by restaurants,
the customers would be able to analyze various forms of
factors [4]. IoT technology would also be able to alert their
users regarding various kinds of issues and newer forms of
alerts within the changes or updates within their business.
The technology of IoT is mostly implemented within the
restaurant business with the help of platform technology.
Multiple form of integrations would be utilized within the
system for the purpose of making the several devices and
equipment to interact with each other. The various forms of
integrations within the Smart Restaurant systems would make
use of Application Program Interface (API). The proper use of
platform would be helpful for reducing the various number of
integrations that would be necessary for connecting with a
technological ecosystem. This would also lead to an improved
form of management process [5].

streamlining of processes along with a quick and efficient
manner of business operations. The restaurants business
employ the use of IoT framework and smart capabilities based
on the building of various improved technologies. These
technologies are implemented in order to manage the various
forms of incurred costs and consumption of energy. An
Energy Management Solution (EMS) would be able to utilize
the various forms of intelligent and smart assets that would be
meant in order to collect, scrutinize and thus share data on the
amount of consumption of electricity, oil, gas and water [6].
Based upon this form of information, different forms of
smarter measures could be implemented based on the
utilization of resources.
Opportunities for IoT within Smart Restaurants
There are various forms of opportunities within the
improvement of smart solutions within the restaurant business.
Smart sensors fit within fryers are installed in order to
maintain the optimal temperature of oil that would be helpful
for cooks as to would have the ease for determining when the
cooking would be completed [7]. The sensors installed within
refrigerators would be able to monitor the quality of the
dishes. They would be able to detect the amount of dishes that
have perished and thus send real-time notification to the
kitchen staff prior to the expiration of the food products [8].
With the help of these form of notifications, the kitchen staff
would be able to determine when the newer form of orders
would be needed to be placed.

allowing the kitchen staff in order to retrieve precise amounts
of demands of supply [10].

coupled with the data from the guests and PoS would also be
able to ensure the engagement of customers to a much higher
level. The different high level of Wi-Fi networks and smartly
placed IoT beacons would be able to highly monitor the
amount of foot traffic in front of a restaurant. The collection of
data with the help of smart connected devices would be able to
help in providing better form of services to the loyal
customers by providing them with promotions and various
kinds of incentives [11].

Based on the above discussion from the report, it could be
concluded that IoT based technologies within smart
restaurants would be a major help for the growth of the
business within the sector. This would be greatly helpful for
building an efficient system of business in the restaurant
sector. Smart kinds of solutions within the sector help in the
efficiency of work within the business operations. The IoT
based technologies help in generating and implanting smart
solutions within the various appliances within kitchens such as
fryers, refrigerators and other items. These kinds of smart
solutions based within IoT would also help in enriching a rich
customer base within the business. This would hence help in
incurring more customers within the restaurants who would be
