Executive summary

IT NETWORK INFRASTUCTURE 3
Australian Catholic University, is one of the public nonprofit making university funded
by the Australian Government. Current the University has about seven campuses with four major
faculties that offer doctoral, masters, and bachelor degrees. The University is interested in
upgrading the university network. The existing university network design supports emails and
basic wide area network access, and few specialized university software tools. Students and users
have complained about occasional downtime and the slow response of the network. In addition,
to upgrading its network the university also wishes to expand its services to Sydney and to have
a wireless network services within all its university campuses. Also, the university would wish to
have files share and back-up servers to back-up all its important documents regularly and share
files. The new branch the university wants to open is an eight floor building where each floor has
30 rooms some of which are classes
Introduction
There is an increase in demand for high performance organizational network. The low
delays on an end –to-end basis, high throughput, and degree for fairness in accessing the
available channel bandwidth among active users on the organization network has challenged
most of network engineers to design an organization network which has the ability of delivering
high QoS to the end users. In addition, the current network infrastructure design has become very
crucial for most of organizations. The most considered network design is a network which has
the ability of support future expansion, a network which is scalable and reliable. To achieve this
it requires the network designer to first define the client’s unique situation, particularly the data
architecture, current technology, and the organization application (Kurose & Ross, 2018, p. 89).
This report will present how AUC University will go about in upgrading its network,
how to expand its network, and how to install wireless access points in all its four campus and

the new building. In addition, this proposed solution will involve significant changes to the
university network systems. The new basic physical network architecture and the needed
wireless network system.
The report will have six parts, the first part will discuss the geographical scope of the
university network with a support of a diagram. The second part will show how to go about
logical design diagram for the Sydney location which will be based on the 3 layers hierarchical
model. Third, the paper will identify the IP addresses with the subnet masks which can used for
the Sydney branch for both the servers and the client computers. Forth, the paper will propose
two organizations which provides cloud services for web and email servers of the university.
Fifth, the paper will outline some of the techniques the university can employ for service
virtualization in supporting Cloud platforms. Lastly, the paper will demonstrate how cloud
computing can support dynamic scaling for AUC university.
Geographic scope
As shown from figure one, AUC network comprises of three campuses and the new
Sydney campus with eight floors.
