IT SERVICE INFRASTRUCTURE
Introduction
This report aims to provide the discussion of the analysis of the present network of
Woolworths and suggest the hosting of some of the services by using the cloud and
virtualisation. It is considered that the chosen organisation intends to open the new branch in
a building that is located in the Sydney city centre. The building comprises of comprises of 8
floors and each of the floor comprises of the floor area. There are almost 30 rooms in each of
the floor, and each comprises of five network points to which the connection of the staff PC
is done. The network comprises of the four servers that includes the print, file, DNS and the
DHCP servers. All the computers of the staff should be able to connect to internet.
Discussion
Geographical scope
Presently, the organisation work over the vast geographical zone all across Australia
for the achievement of the vision and the mission of the company. For the interconnection of
the various areas of the operations, the company leased the line and the trans link fiber
connections (Knox 2015). The fibre optics cables have been acting as the major backbone of
the connection and this is the network diagram that has been created for the visualisation of
the geographical scope in this network (King and Thobela 2014).

The connection among each local area network has been prepared using the Internet
as well as the utilisation of the software of VPN client for the transmission of the data packets
across the distributed network. With the help of the segmentation of the network, applications
and the users, the analysis has been executed on the present network usage. The segmentation
of this network has been done into the minor LAN for separate location and the utilisation of
the local server has been done for creating the connection with the internet among the
branches and internet is utilised for transmitting data among the branches (Trevena et al.
2014). The utilisation of the SSL connection has been done for the secured transmission of
the data packets along with maintaining the proper secured data of the information of the
organisation from any external agent. The multiple VLAN has been created by the sub
dividing of the LAN relying on the quantity of the users and the number of department that
are working on the branch. The management of the users is also done as per the requirements

of the bandwidth and it has been assigned to the high speed VLAN for the improvement of
the performance.
Logical design
The creation of the design has been done by depending on the three-layer hierarchical
model and the utilisation of the redundant links has been done for creating the connection of
the devices in the distribution layer in a manner where the data traffic could travel the
destination address by utilising the diverse path and not any loss of the data occurs. The
firewall has been utilised for management in the core layer of the outgoing and the incoming
data packets within the network and it helps in increasing the security of the framework of the
network.

Cloud providers
Amazon WorkMail: The Amazon company provides the secure, managed business
calendar as well as the services of the email hosting along with the support for the prevailing
desktop and the mobile applications of the email client. The Woolworths could exploit the
solution of the cloud of Amazon for accessing the emails, contacts and the calendars in
fashionable utilising the client application according to their preferences ( Microsoft Outlook,
Native iOS, as well as the Android email apps, or another application that works with the
support of the IMAP protocol), or by using the web browser. When the company integrates
the Amazon WorkMail with the prevailing corporate directory of the company, this would
allow them to fulfil the requirement of the crucial compliance needs (Budzinski and Köhler
2015). The email service in the cloud is efficiently managed, secured, readily available,
accessible easily and it is also cost efficient (Nadon 2017).
This would allow the employees of the Woolworths to readily synchronise the
important emails, contacts and the calendars with the iOS, Android phones, as well as the
Windows Phone. Even though, along with the characteristics of compliance and the security,
the Amazon WorkMail, the integration along with the various clients and the devices could
be easily executed. The cloud solution of the Amazon includes the enterprise level security in
which every data of the organisation is encrypted automatically (Hyseni and Ibrahimi 2017).
Along with this, Woolworths could be able to manage the complete control over all the zone
of the data by the methods of the selection of the AWS or the Amazon Web Services sector
where all the data would be stored using the secured protocols. Hence, the implementation of
the Amazon WorkMail, the Woolworths company could gain the ability of managing the

corporate email framework in the efficient and effective method as well as simultaneously
mitigate the requirement for the creation of the upfront investments in the terms of the license
and the provisioning of the email server located on-premise.
Google G Suite Business: Previously referred as the Google Apps for working, the G suite
providers the collection of the powerful techniques, which could provide the required
assistance for scaling the small businesses (Ventayen et al. 2018). It creates the foundation
upon the user familiarity with the products of Google and the services of Google for offering
the businesses with the increased efficient solutions in the workplace. The organisation
Woolworths could be significantly benefitted from the implementation of the Google G suite.
The G suite could help in the management of the business with the increased efficiency,
improve the workflow and the also enhance the interaction among the employees. The G
suite provides the collection of the accustomed apps like the Docs, Gmail, Calendar, and the
Drive. All these apps could be gained by the organisation without the expenses but with the
payment of the services, several other services could be gained (Spellberg, Bartlett and
Gilbert 2016).
As the business is on the budget, the G Suite extensively utilised for the extensive
workplace organisation. Increasingly, the conversion from the Office server to the G Suite
eliminates the expensive work orders and the interruptions. The G Suite promotes the
efficient collaboration among the employees of the organisation. The set of the intelligent
apps of the G Suite permits the company and the team members to function in collaboration
on the documents simultaneously. The employees could view the edits that have been done
by them in the real time and the items of the company are saved by the application in the
cloud of the company. The capabilities of the editing could be provided to the team members
of the organisation or the selected team members. As the employees functions using the
documents, the employees could utilise the chat feature that has been in-built in the software

for brainstorming the ideas and also communicate efficiently. This specific features permits
the team members to finish the projects quickly and with the increased accuracy. This feature
also eliminates the requirement of sending the several number of emails with the present
version of the documents. With the features of the Google Drive, the cloud storage platform,
the business as well as the employees of the organisation could safely and securely store all
the data of the organisation and the other business data. Unlike any common office server, the
G Suite stores all the information in the data centres of Google that could be spread all across
the business using the internet feature.
This particular characteristic allows the provisioning of the servers to the backup
server if any of the major server fails due to some damages. As the information is maintained
in the Cloud, the G Suite eliminates the requirement of downloading the documents to the
home computers and the devices in which the crucial data could be stolen or damaged. With
the effective utilisation of the Google Calendar, the meetings of the organisation could be
easily tracked along with the effective planning of the projects, allow the effective tracking of
the deadlines and the scheduling of the appointments. The company could host their email
and the web requirements on the G Suite and gain the effective benefits that could help the
organisation to achieve the efficient growth.
Tools supporting the virtualisation and the cloud computing
The service virtualisation in the cloud computing provides the developers with the
ability of continuing with the development of the applications in the situations when there
might be one or more than one components have gone missing (Lin et al. 2015). The
technique of the virtualisation allows the integrated and the swift testing, which assists in the
developers in fulfilling the requirements within the deadlines and also distribute the
application in the efficient and timely manner (Xiao, Chen and Luo 2014). There are various
tools of utilising the service virtualisation in the implementing and further supporting the

cloud platforms. The virtualisation of cloud platforms allows the long term reduction of the
costs, provide the increased scalability, provide the disaster recovery along with the ability of
testing the operating systems, software applications as well as the kernels in the secured
manner (Netto et al. 2014). The various methods of the server virtualisation are provided in
the section below:
Storage virtualisation: The technique of the virtualisation is not so troublesome and
it is also cost effective significantly, in which complete data of the organisation could be
easily transferred from the physical hard drives to the single virtual storage. Using this
method, the creation of the central console is done for the operating of the storage for the
simplification of the complete process of the management (Tesfatsion, Wadbro and Tordsson
2014). This specific method could be essential in the manipulation of the storage in cloud
easily for executing the tasks of the recovery, backup as well as the archiving of the complete
data of the organisation. It easily hides the physical and the real architecture that contains the
complexity of the storage. the sole storage device is implemented by this particular
virtualisation technique that could be utilised by the several servers (Wang et al. 2016).
Application virtualisation: The users would comprise of the remote access to the
particular application via any server. This specific servers is majorly responsible for the
storage of overall personal information of all the application as well as the various other
characteristics. It could still execute using the internet on the local workstation (Lorido-
Botran, Miguel-Alonso and Lozano 2014). This specific virtualisation summaries the
application layer by the distinguishing of the layer from the operating system. This specific
approach for the virtualisation allows the users to overcome the issues connected to the
incompatibility of the application in respect to all the liabilities like the prevailing hardware,
and the bags (Dinh et al. 2017).

Desktop virtualisation: this specific technique of the virtualisation provides the
required help to the operating system for allowing the complete utilisation by the user by
storing remotely on any server that is placed in the data center. This specific approach allows
the users to gain the required access of the desktop virtually regardless the location of the
machine of the user (Hwang et al. 2016). The users might comprise of the virtual desktops for
accessing any specific operating system. The technique of the desktop virtualisation offers
the various advantages like the user mobility, portability and the user management of the
software patches, installation and the updates.
Network virtualisation: This strict tools executes the combination of the accessible
resources in the specific network by executing the dividing of the bandwidth into the distinct
channels in which each of the channels are immensely distinguished (Garcia Lopez et al.
2015). These specific bandwidths could be easily assigned to any device or any server in the
real time. On the top of any sole physical network, this would co-exist, which allows the
creation and the provisioning of the virtual networks that includes the firewalls, load
balancer, routers, logical switches, VPN and the workload security (Fallah, Arani and Maeen
2015).
Dynamic scaling utilising the Cloud computing
The utilisation of the cloud computing is significantly beneficial for the organisations
in several methods. The scalability is considered as the critical success of each of the
organisation who are working on the web servers (Nandgaonkar and Raut 2014). The
scalability is the measure of the ability of any application for the expansion as well as
meeting needs of the business enterprise. The scalable application are now able to perform
the operation as these are evolving and also utilise the increased resources with the time for
offering the improved services to the customers (Muir et al. 2016).

The implementation of the scaling algorithm has been done in the subsystem of the
service monitor and it is utilised for the triggering the scaling up or down in the provisioning
subsystem all across the virtual machine. This algorithm allow the present instances of the
web application in having the active sessions below or above the numbers of the threshold.
The vertical scaling is considered to be reducing the server for the increasing the capacity of
the prevailing infrastructure by the addition off the additional resources. It helps in the
synchronisation of the prevailing MS active directory for allowing the users with the ability
of accessing the mailboxes using the pre-defined credentials. In the situation of the vertical
scaling, there might be some significant chances of the altering the infrastructure and the
coding. The horizontal scaling involves the services for the creating an independent and the
spate servers could be easily called. It could be easily perceived that the tool of the storage
virtualisation introduces the sole storage device, which could be utilised by the several
servers.
Conclusion
Therefore, it could be concluded that the implementation of the cloud services could
help Woolworths significantly. Presently, the organisation work over the vast geographical
zone all across Australia for the achievement of the vision and the mission of the company.
For the interconnection of the various areas of the operations, the company leased the line
