IT IN TELECOMMUNICATION
1.0 Introduction
In the modern world, various new technologies are developed that helps to provide a
lot of convenience in human life. Information technology is most important technology
among these new technologies that involves in telecom industry to reach it in a promote point
(Almana, Aksoy and Alzahrani 2014). The growth of information technology induces in such
an enhanced way that reflects on telecommunication industry. This paper mainly focuses on
how information technology effects on telecommunications. Also, this following reflects on
the importance of information technology in telecommunication, the utilising process of
information technology in telecommunication and also risks of IT in telecommunication
(Arkorful and Abaidoo 2015). This information technology improves the telecommunication
industry that helps to store as well as transmit and receive of lots of information. With the
help of information technology, telecommunication industry makes more favourable for
modern society through various hardware, software developers. In this way, the reflection of
information technology effects on telecommunication industry that helps to the present world
in an effective way.
2.0 Discussion
2.1 Needs of IT in telecommunication
In earlier days, people have been communicated to each other through delivering of
letters or postal services (Bloom et al. 2014) . But while information technology comes in the
present world, the changing of telecommunication industry happens. Because information
technology provides a lot of supportive hardware to telecommunication industry. Not only
providing supportive hardware but also many communication software are provided by this
information technology (Chesley 2014). With the help of information technology, people can
communicate each other over so many physical devices such as mobile devices, computers,

and laptops sitting at home. This information technology helps to telecommunication industry
for storing, transmitting as well as manipulating information. The information technology
merges with the telecommunication for achieving better communication.
2.2 Importance of IT in telecommunication
The integration of information technology and telecommunication creates a crucial
role in daily life. This technology makes business process easier to the clients as well as
suppliers and distributor (Dutta, Geiger and Lanvin 2015). With the help of information
technology, in telecommunication industry various telecommunication networks are enlisted
such as local area network (LAN), Wide area network (WAN), Metropolitan area network
(MAN). These networks not only helps for business purposes but also these are accessed all
over the world. On the other hand, information technology may be defined as a process in
which the information are stored, transmitted as well as manipulated. By using this
technology, the telecommunication industry also accepts this concept of storing as well as
transmitting information (Erumban and Das 2016). This technology provides the transmission
of information through various electronic devices over distances. Attaching the information
technology, the telecommunication industry helps to the companies to communicate with the
customers in an effective way and it also helps to provide high range services to the
customers.
2.3 Process of applying IT in telecommunication
In the telecommunication industry, the main aim is the transmission of information
over long distances. The information may be sign, signals as well as messages, words etc.
Telecommunication takes places while information is exchanging within communication
devices with the help of information technology (Galliers and Leidner 2014). It needs to
install information technology related devices in telecommunication industry for easier as
well as faster communication. Various equipment are required for better communication with

the help of information technology. The equipment are such as telephone, mobile, radio,
television, transistors as well as computers and Internet that helps to provide better evaluation
in the telecommunication field. With the help of information technology, the analog as well
as digital communications are developed in the telecommunication sector which helps to
provide the communication related information in form of signals. The internet also takes a
part in the case of communication (Goddard and Gillespie 2017). Through internet, the
communication makes easier in terms of text, audio messages.
2.4 Process of using IT in telecommunication
Merging information technology with telecommunication industry, it has a great
reflection in human life. Because all of the activities of daily life are done with the help of
this technology. By using this technology, various kind of communications such as electronic
mail, call conference as well as video conference all are operated in daily life. According to
the external view, the integration of information technology and telecommunication industry
helps to enhance the economy concept of nation as because merging these two phenomena
helps to develop the economic strategy of the nation (Meredith et al. 2014). According to the
business perspective, the communication process makes easier and it helps to each of the
organizations to make their strategically view in the target market. With the help of
information technology, people can access lots of information for their daily use purposes
over the internet. In this way, the information technology utilises in telecommunication
industry.
2.5 Advantages of IT in telecommunication
The telecommunication industry brings a lot of advantages while it attaches with the
information technology. In the present world, the telecommunication industry has been
improved by using information technology. Because, nowadays people can communicate
with each other through email, messages, phone calling, pictures as well as videos over the

internet (Sapolsky et al. 2018). Attaching with the information technology, the enhancing
phenomena telecommunication has reflected in the field of entertainment. Because, people
can see their enjoyable information through various television stations by pushing just one
button. Over the internet, they can listen their favourite music with the help of
telecommunication industry (Vaishnavi and Kuechler 2015). According to business view,
there a number of advantages of telecommunication industry. Because, this industry gives
better customer service that means they can solve any customer related problems through the
telephone devices. By using this information technology in telecommunication industry, the
new arrival devices that is smart phones which is an integral part of telecommunication
industry can be used for accessing data, receiving mail as well as messages etc.
2.6 Risks of IT in telecommunication
It is the obvious fact that the telecommunication industry has improved while it is
attaching with the information technology. But though there are lots of advantages of
telecommunication, some of risk factors that take place in this industry by using information
technology. Some of the risk factors are given as below:
Decrement of face-to-face interaction As because with the help of information
technology, people can access the telecommunication over the internet that means the online
communication, so it causes the decrement of face to face interactions.
Decrement of physical activity By using information technology with
telecommunications, people can work their daily activities sitting in one place with the help
of unique gadgets (Wildevuur and Simonse 2015). That’s why, it increases the health
problems by reducing physical activity.

Social Disconnect – As because, the internet helps to connect people over long distances
with the help of online communication that’s why it increases emotional distances due to
various reasons.
Privacy problems – In today’s generation, various new kind of gadgets that are integrated
with the information technology are used to access the data in daily life. But most of the time,
various kinds of virus attacks or other malware attack the daily accessed data. This induces
loss of privacy.
2.7 Monitoring of IT in telecommunication
It is the common factor that the information technology enhances the
telecommunication industry for communication purposes. In that cases, to get continuous
advantages, it needs to maintain as well as monitor information technology in the
telecommunication industry. It needs to increase the safety in this industry because it may
loss lots of information due to overloads in the network. So it may concern that there will no
overload in the network systems. Another factor is that to concern about the privacy of
telecommunication industry. Because accessing of information over the internet may causes
virus as well as malware attacks in the communication networks. These are the ways by
which the telecommunication industry maintain the information technology.
3.0 Conclusion
In the conclusion part, it has been analysed that the information technology helps to
enhance the telecommunication industry for better communication. This technology provides
a number of advantages in daily life. With the help of information technology, the benefits of
telecommunication industry is effected in everywhere such as personal life, communication
purpose, entertainment as well as business fields. It induces lots of electronic gadgets such as
