I am an enthusiastic candidate with a qualification of Bachelor of Nursing from Victoria University possessing a technical skill-set capable in contributing to patient care at your healthcare facility. As you can perceive from my attached resume,at present,I am enrolled as a full time nursing student.I obtained my clinical skills through all the years I have been doing placements andcompleted my Diploma of Nursing in Nov 2017. Currently working as a Personal Care attendant, I have been exposed to all the clinical scenarios and gained knowledge from it as well as prior placements. These specifically included Aged care, Sub acute, mental, acute, medical as well as surgical care.As ageing population has been increasing in present scenario, there has been a growing demand for aged care services. The placement helped me in not only in learning compassion towards patients but helped me understand the nuances of quality care by improving me in areas where I lacked. This provided me with an opportunity to be exposed to inevitable 1
challenges of the industry as well as helped me in gaining in-depth knowledge about policies and procedures related to aged care. Also, I was able to develop an understanding in regards to collection, recording, analysing and interpretation of patient data in relation to health and functional status including individuals and groups. Through such learning outcomes of my concerned placements, I am successfully proficient in understanding basic documentation procedures, responding to queries, inventory checking in addition to hydration and nutrition for older individuals and clean working environment in the hospitals. As a nursing student, I take immense pride in learning about this field and enjoy being a part of the healing process of the patients.I was commended by clinical supervisors for my enthusiasm to learn and multi-task responsibilities in a qualitative manner. I was able to acquire the skills to monitor as well as assess patient's environment, identify unprofessional/unsafe practices, acknowledge dignity, culture of patients with diverse beliefs or values. Also, being responsible to coordinate and collaborate with colleagues helped me in establishing therapeutic relationships among colleagues and patients.These have not only honed my knowledge in patient care but have also allowed me to succeed in creating a strong foundation necessary to develop my career as a Registered Nurse. My most enjoyable experience was working with aged populace where I was responsible to instruct and reassure individuals on how to take care of themselves by making healthy lifestyle choices.I feel that mycognition in medical nomenclature, customer service and strong acquaintance with information technology including clinical systems, risk assessment & management would be of immense utility to the organisation. In addition to the skills acquired through continual teachings and mentorship both academically and as a practitioner, I have been complemented by my superiors in customer service.My placement experience in surgical care has aided me with a generous amount of opportunities to work with patients in a diverse and stressed environment.This has helped me to not only create time-management skills but also develop an ability to prioritise safety of patients by identifying and preventing environmental hazards.It also introduced me to people of diverse cultures and values which has widened my horizons in terms of knowledge and interaction. Apart from this, I am due to attend surgical orthopaedicsin the near future.
