Question 1
In this study I am going to discuss Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) a venture in catering industry.
KFC is an American fast food outlet with over 23,000 outlets worldwide by 2019 (KFC
corporation n.d). They are famous for on-the-bone chicken pieces seasoned with variety of herbs
and spices. KFC maintains uniformity and standards by offering chicken in a unique style where
two or three pieces are served. KFC chicken recipe is a very guarded secret believed to be ever
under key and lock manned by undisclosed staff members (Wallop 2018).
Question two
KFC as an organization is a rich case study due to its deep, wide and fascinating history. Being
one of the largest restaurants serving delighting chicken recipes for many years, Consistency and
high level standards are among core values of the organization. From expanded menu to opening
of more outlets worldwide, the organization is keen to maintain a brand that will last for more
and more generations (KFC 2019). The company has stood test of time and came out
successfully as a brand that can withstand competition and business loss. There is interest in
studying an organization whose tenets are static yet successfully manage to survive changing
trends in the industry over years (Wallop 2018).
Question three
Among fascinating entrepreneurial activities KFC has come up with recently is the launch of
edible coffee cup. The brand was launched in collaboration with Seattle’s Best Coffee in United
Kingdom. The ‘Scoffee Cup’ as it is referred is actually a cup-shaped cookie coated in white
chocolate and sugar (Wallop 2018). As one drinks the coffee, the cookie part slowly softens.
Besides actualizing this crazy idea, there are plans to have the cup in different scents and aroma.

This move will enable reduce the amount of cardboard and plastic waste from used coffee cups.
In India, the company plans to widen customer base by bringing on board low cost dishes into
the menu besides stepping up home delivery. On health perspective, consumers are now being
health conscious. KFC is focusing on a shift from deep fried to grilled chicken (KFC.com n.d).
To remain relevant and competitive, a business must ensure customers come back. This is
achieved by promoting individual contact networks. At the same time, the interaction helps KFC
to understand customer needs and as a result the company invests in new goals that are aimed at
promoting customer satisfaction based on the comments left behind about the product offered
(Meltzer 2018).
Question 4
Upsurge of world economies and technological advancement has led to increased demand for
human resource. In this case, KFC has stood out as a dependable employer to locals. One
advantage of working at KFC is how they make work friendlier and less engaging. The pressure
fryers are automated such that food preparation is hastened. The above factor promotes
efficiency and quick preparation of foods hence customer are saved on a substantial amount of
waiting time. In countries where the middle class forms a substantial size of population group,
KFC foods is an affordable and easily available. The company is opening new franchises in
different countries every year. According to investigation done on KFC in 2014, the company is
on spot for poorly paying the employees in a particular branch in Canada (KFC corporation n.d).
The above aspect might however turn into an isolated case as labor laws and work valuation
techniques differ from place to place. The frustrated workers have been reported to have been
spotted torturing chicken before slaughtering them. Animal rights protect them against all forms
of cruelty and abuse. It is reported that despite KFC being adherent to Animal rights, they have
