SUMMARY
Portfolio will discuss about various topics which are totally linked with academic and
professional development of students. It will provide a brief overview of module in which
various skills that is being required by students will be discussed. Skills includes, problem
solving, decision making, time management and self-management. Portfolio will also analyse
that how these skills can assist students in achieving their short term as well as long term goals
and objectives. Effective communication can assist students in making better relationship with
their teachers and peers. It will also allow them in solving various challenges that is being faced
by them during class room sessions. Time management skills has assisted students in competing
their task on time and even prioritising the task which is of utmost importance to them. This has
assisted them in increasing their productivity as well as efficiency. These skills when acquired by
students can help in growing and exceling out in their career.
Portfolio will also discuss about the benefits if learning logs. In learning Logs child’s
response to challenges are being recorded by teachers. Students can also seek these logs for
future assistance. Issues which are being faced by child can be explained to them by using
Learning Logs. Portfolio will also analyse various types of learners that includes visual learner,
auditory learner. Visual learner can learn things by viewing them. For increasing their learning,
they can go through images, pictures, graphs. By this way they can learn better and faster.
Auditory learner can learn by listening to various audios. In this teachers can also have engaged
in asking them with repetitive questions (Lui and Bonner, 2016). This enhances their ability to
learn and grow. Portfolio will also discuss about Reflection, that how reflecting on one’s values
and skills can assist students in analysing their strength and weakness. It creates self-awareness
among them by which children also know about the gaps on which they have to work upon.
Reflecting on individual’s skills can assist them in enhancing their academic grades and provides
them with a chance to explore various opportunities.
Portfolio will also analyse the various benefits of Personal development plan. By this plan
student knows about the skills in which they are lacking in. They set objectives with specific
time frame and engages in achieving it. It increases abilities of students to perform better.
Portfolio also presents about social and ethical consideration which needs to be followed by
students. In this learners must not be involved in doing any academic miss-conduct, as this will
lay negative impression in mind of teachers affecting student’s growth. Presentation skills also

must be needed to possess by students. They need to be confident while presenting a subject.
Students also needs to have good pronunciation skills. References are being used to show that
research conducted is authentic and reliable. It also presents that content used is not hypothetical.
MAIN BODY
Overview of the module:
Module describes about the various skills that is being required by students for better
academic grades and professional career. Skills which is necessary for overall growth of kids
includes communication, problem solving, self-management, time management. These attributes
can assist students in achieving their short as well as long term academic goals. It can also help
them in exploring various different opportunities in their career. They can improve their
performance after acquiring these skills and also techniques such as problem solving,
presentation, communication can enhance their lifelong learning. These skills are really
necessary for overall growth of a student (Kahwati and et.al., 2017). If kids find any gap in their
learning process, they can engage in making personal development. This plan can lay emphasis
upon objectives which needs to be achieved by students, it will also describe about resources that
will be required in order to reach out ultimate goals and objectives. It enhances student’s
efficiency.
Necessary skills for success:
The skills that are most essential for success of students includes problem solving, decision
making, communication, presentation, self-management and time management. Like for example
if students are self-managed, it can assist them in finishing their home and class work on time.
This can also enhance their grades and can lay positive impression on their teachers. Time
management skill when acquire by students assists them in prioritising the most important task
and finishing their work on timely basis (Ab Kadir, 2017). In this students also needs to be
critical thinker, so that they can analyse easily which work do they need to finish first. This
aspect can be beneficial for their growth. Students also must possess effective communication
skills, they need to have great command over both verbal and written communication. This can
enhance their confidence in front of their teachers and they can also increase their grades.
Presentation skills is also must for students. While presenting something, they need to make sure
that they have good pronunciation power.
