The business class can be termed as an airline concept that emerged somewhere in the
beginning of the 21st century. This concept aims at catering to the businessmen who tend to
travel a lot via air and require premium facilities on board. This class was very different from
the economy class which is quite common in the aviation industry as most passengers fly
economy, it constitutes of luxurious seating arrangements, curated menus, enough leg space
and prompt service (Pels, 2008). However the price of this class is set significantly higher the
economy class and it is mostly utilized by businessmen and customers who belong to the
richer sectors of the society.
La Compagnie which was previously legally incorporated as the Dreamjet SAS, it is a
completely business class airline created and operated by the aviation entrepreneur Frantz
Yvelin. The company situated at Paris. Most of the business class flights are between France
and Newark Liberty International Airport. It is evident that La Compagnie is one of the only
business class airlines that survived the market.
This survival can be because of the constant process of fleet renewal and fleet
expansion that they had continued all the while providing proper service to its customers. The
company had also offered all you can fly passes that allowed people to fly to and fro from
New York to Paris as many number of times they wanted and it cost $ 40,000 per year. It also
has a new route that is seasonal, like the route to Cote d’Azur. They also have a frequent flyer
program allows passengers to points for every flight that take with the company and by
referring the peers to register for the frequent flyer program as well, these points can be
encashed by them for booking flights with XL Airways Plan. All of the various
configurations of other airlines which have tried to adopt the all business class model are
now-defunct were not aware of the market as La Compagnie and could not upgrade smartly
(Shaw 2016).
