There are various types of labor union which includes united auto workers, united steelworkers,
transportation union, united food and commercial workers union, industrial unions, public
sectors union, and united mine workers of America. These labor unions play a significant role in
each and every business.
How labor relations are related to labor unions
Labor relations deal with arbitrations, grievances, unfair labor practices and queries to state
agencies. Labor relations also help to maintain coordination in the workplace and they do work
with more effectively and efficiently. It is the part of human resource management. On the other
hand, labor unions are considered the group of people, who represent employees in various types
of occupation and they do work to look after the rights of the workers like wages, working
environment and payment. Apart from this, labor relations help to develop bargaining strategies
and objectives of the firm. The labor unions should make reciprocal relationship at the workplace
in order to accomplish goals and objectives. In this way, labor unions and labor relations are
interconnected with each other.
Impact of labor unions on various industries
Labor unions play an empirical role in each and every organization in order to meet long term
mission and vision of the firm. Through labor unions, employees bond with each other to
generate a communal voice for negotiations with workers. The labor unions have various
positive as well as negative effects on the labor market. Labor unions provide employee
satisfaction because they work together to attain a common objective and purpose. The union
leader handles grievances and complaints of the workers. Therefore, they increase and enhance
loyalty, trust and confidence of the employees. The employees do not leave their jobs frequently
through labor unions because organization maintains a large workforce. Along with this, the
employees easily accept the organizational and management changes because they work together
to grip the common problem and issue. On the other hand, labor unions may also influence the
employees as well as organization productivity adversely because employees go for strike
