INTRODUCTION
The sale of alcohol throughout the UK is allowed only for restaurants, pubs, shops and
other premises that the local authority are officially licensed for the purpose. There must be a
personal license held by individual who are in charge of such premises. In this report chosen
organisation is East London Liquor Company which is from United Kingdom. This report is
based on license premises of the corporation. There are following are covered in this report such
as : consequences of providing consumer with misleading information, employer liability in the
protection of consumers, aspects of weights and measures legislation, duties and responsibilities
associated with management of licensed premises. Apart from this report also discuss about food
safety and hygiene regulation and key aspects of discrimination legislation.
TASK B
2 .1 Assess the consequences of providing consumer with misleading information
Misleading information is that information which misguide the consumers in context to
price, quantity, quality, false statement or advertisement regarding a product of an organisation
(Misleading information. 2018). It is the responsibly of hotel manager to provide appropriate
information about alcoholic drinks. Actions of misleading are covered in Consumer's Protection
Act on Unfair Regulations of Trading, 2008. A consumer can take action against the misleading
trader who does not follow the trading standards. But East London Liquor Company does not
provide false information to its consumers as a result their interest does not get affected. There
are various types of misleading information a consumer can face such as :
Identical trademark, products or trade names which can create the situation of confusion
in front of customers. Compliances and code of conduct which are needed to be follow by a
corporation, if a trader does not follow than it mislead the consumers. False information about
price, weight, quantity etc. these all things can mislead the person who want to buy a product.
Consequences of providing misleading information in context to organisation.
Reputation and brand image of organisation can be influenced negatively as per The
Lanham Act of 1946.
Profits of organisation can be reduce because consumers does not like to but the products
of organisation as per Consumers Rights Act, 2015.
Market value of organisation can be reduce (Willett, 2012).

2. 2 Evaluate the extent of employer liability in the protection of consumers
The licenses premises owner are required to follow their responsibilities in effective way
so that risk can be prevent in context to its consumers and interest of customer can be protected.
So employer of East London Liquor Company are required to deliver quality products and
services to the persons at reasonable price. If an employer misconduct in a licensed premises
with its consumers than employer will be liable for its wrong behaviour.
As per the Consumer Protection Act, it is essential for an employer to provide relevant
information to its consumers in context to price, quantity, quality etc. Employer of East London
Liquor Company provides all information to its consumers such as : types of ingredients and its
quantity in the product, weight, instructions about uses etc. It is the liability of employer to
provide the fresh and quality products to their consumers so that they can get healthy foods.
Employer is liable to solve the problems and issues which are asked by the customers as a result
needs and wants of consumers can satisfy. Employer liability in the protection of consumers are
as follows :
To follow the rules, regulations and laws of Consumer Protection Act so that interest of
consumer can be protected and employer is liable to follow the these compliances.
Employer is liable to provide proper information about a product which includes
quantity, quality, weight and ingredients.
Does not provide those products which can affect the health of consumer.
To solve the queries of consumers in context to a product or services and it is the
responsibility of employer.
To satisfy the needs and wants of consumers and provide the quality products and it is the
responsibility of employer (Sonenshine and Roe, 2013).
Employer is liable to follow the compliances of food and beverage act so that interest of
consumers can be protected.
Employer of East London Liquor Company protect the interest of consumer as a result
they can satisfy which leads to maximize its sales and organisation is able to generate more
profits.
2. 3 Policy for ensuring that all aspects of weights and measures legislation are implemented
To ensure all aspects of weights and measures legislation are essential to be implemented
by the management within the licensed premises and policies are introduced with laws for

positive assurance. It is essential for hotels and bars to sold alcoholic drinks as per its specific
weight. Policies of weights and measures are covered by clauses under the Weights and
Measures Regulation Act 2006. This act stipulated that how beverage can be served in proper
quantity that will never be injuries for the health of customers. This act has emphasis on the
quality control of packed goods. East London Liquor Company follows the packing rules and
packing should not be less than required quantity and the beverage can be preserve for a long
time as per the standards of food and beverage act (Shaw, 2017). Weights and Measures
Regulation Act ensues that consumers can get appropriate products at right quantity and
reasonable price. It helps to protect the rights of consumers so that their health does not get
affected. Act is applicable for all types of food products and beverage which involves juice and
liquor. In the bottle price and quantity should also be mention and price and quantity of products
can not vary in the menu and notice board which is displayed in the organisation. East London

3. 1 Discuss the key components of a range of regulations
There are various key components of regulations which are made to protect the interest of
consumers. East London Liquor Company has follow the range of regulations which involve
components of health and safety policy which can influence the licensed premises and these are
as follows :
Electricity at work regulation, 1989 : Electricity at work regulation act has developed
under Health & Safety at Work Act, 1974. It protect the safety of workers at workplace when
they suffers with injuries or death due to the electric shock, fire from electric origin and electric
burn. It is the responsibility of employer to follow this act and provide safe working environment
to the employees. East London Liquor Company has follow this law so that workers can perform
their duties in effective manner and company always take care about the health and safety of its
staffs.
Control of noise at work, 2005 : This act has introduced to prevent the unnecessary
loud noise at the work place so that productivity of workers does not get hamper and they does
not get disturbed. Concentration of employees can loose due to unnecessary noise at the work

has follow this law so that workers can perform their roles effectively which help to enhanced

Management of organisation has associated with various roles and responsibilities in

from Licensing Authority which is covered under Licensing Act 2003. According to this act
management of is responsible to prevent crime and illegal activities in the premises. It is
essential for an organisation to take care about public safety. East London Liquor Company has

been introduced by the government to protect the interest of consumers. Operations of licensed
premises can be affected through the legislation policies as organisation have to follow the legal
rules so that fines and claims can be avoided.

result organisation is able to provide the healthy and fresh food to its Persons. Consumers like to

always take care about its staffs and their needs as a result they perform their roles and duties

There are various discrimination legislation which are needed to be follow by the
organisation while the employment of staffs. East London Liquor Company does not involve in
discrimination activities with its staffs and their employees are happy to work in the
organisation.

Equal Pay Act, 1970 : According to this act all staffs have equal right of pay and

pay. This act has introduce to protect the interest of employees in the organisation and East
London Liquor Company has follow equal pay act. If a corporation does not follow this act than
workers can dissatisfy due to the unequal pay as a result they does not perform their roles and
duties effectively and its affect the efficiency and productivity also.
Sex discrimination act, 1975 : According to this act an organisation has not allowed to
involve in sex discrimination activities. Company can not differentiate on the basis of gender or
marital status of employees. East London Liquor Company does not involve in sex
discrimination activities while selection, recruitment, training, promotion etc.
Race Relation Act, 1976 : As per this act an employer has not allowed to treat workers
or potential workers to be more favourable or less favourable on the basis of nationality, colour
and race. If an organisation do differentiation on the basis of race than license of company can be

among their employees on the basis of race and it provides equal opportunities to each staffs. As
a result staffs like to work in the corporation and they show their willingness towards their the

responsible to protect the interest of consumers. It is essential for a company to follow the
weights and measures legislation while packaging the products. It is necessary for management
of licensed premises to follow its duties and responsibilities which are associated with it. To
follow food safety and hygienic legislation is important for a corporation so that it can able to
provide healthy and fresh food to their consumers. Employer is responsible to protect the interest
of employees and it is essential to follow the regulations of discrimination legislation so that
workers feel happy to work in organisation.
