Introduction
Authority help with setting another course alongside the vision for a gathering so they can
take after. Administration helps with giving viable controls and in addition coordinate the
general population alongside the assets in a gathering according to the standards and qualities
that ought to be set up. The ability of the leader is high as they manage the work in the
organization which is equivalent to an effective leader. Leaders of the company put more
efforts into completing the task and attain the goals and objectives. I have worked for
Debenhams by adopting effective leadership styles which help me in improving the skills. In
this report, discussion to be done on the importance of a successful leader. Along with this,
demonstration needs to be done on the difference between the leadership and management.
Moreover, personal reflection is to be provided on leadership while working as a line
manager for Debenhams.

1. What is involved in being a successful leader?
The best pioneer in the organization is having a mix of three spaces which incorporates
individual, logical and social. Individual incorporate the fruitful pioneers which having best
and right qualities, abilities alongside the styles so they can perform viably. Contextual
includes the capability to adopt different approaches so that they can meet the need of
diversified situations. Relational perspective help in developing the positive or valuable
relationships with the people.
Individual: This category of perspective includes traits, skills and styles. Traits include great
man theory or big five personalities. Skills and styles include skills-based model and Lewin’s
leadership styles. Great man theory defines that some individuals are born with the attributes
and these traits are responsible for the positions of power as well as authority. Through the
followers, goals can be attaining. Leadership includes the qualities which include personality,
charm, aggressiveness, persuasiveness as well as intelligence. These are the qualities which
help in increasing learning. When this theory implied to Debenhams, then leaders use the
qualities with the power. The inborn qualities of leadership are essential and sufficient for the
leader so that they become successful. By doing the education, qualities related to leadership
cannot be acquired. This theory impact on personal charisma, wisdom and political skill by
using the power in the best way (Veblen, 2017).
Contextual: This perspective includes the situational approach, path-goal theory and
contingency model. Path-goal theory refers to the theory which depends on specifying the
leader's style along with the behaviour. This theory fits the employee along with the
environment of work so that goals can be attained (Changing Minds, 2018). Path-goal theory
having an aim to raise or boost the level of motivation of employees, satisfaction and
empowerment which help them in becoming part of productive members of the organization.
This theory is classified into four parts which are supportive, directive, participative and
achievement-oriented leadership. Supportive leadership provide the effective concern for the
welfare and create a friendly working environment. Direct leadership help in providing the
effective guidance as well as need to maintain the schedule to complete specific work in
specific time. Participative leadership need to collect the ideas and should be taken into
account to make effective decision as well as need to take particular actions. Achievement-
