INTRODUCTION
The term leadership is an act which has to be motivating a group of people towards
accomplishing some goals and objectives in business enterprise (Babich and Kouvelis, 2018). It
is a procedure which can direct influence or guide a motivate people that would be influence by
others. Management and operations is mainly concerned with designing, organizing with context
to production and provision of services. For this assessment, chosen organization is Aviva plc is
a British multinational insurance firm which was established in UK and has about 33 million
customers across 16 nations. In this report, various topics should be covered such as different
roles and characteristics of leader, different situational context of leader and managers, different
theories and approaches of leadership.

Introduction to Aviva Plc
Aviva plc is a British multinational insurance firm in London and it has about 33 million
customers across 16 nations and it was largest insurer and pension’s provider firm. it has always
focus on some markets which is Europe and Asia and it is second largest general insurer mainly
primary listing on London stock exchange (Car and Atun, 2017). It was founded in 2000 and
number of employees are 31000.

Different roles and characteristics of leader and manager
Leader: According to Jacob Morgan, It is a person who motivates other employee and
consider towards accomplish their proper goals and objectives in an efficiently and effectively
manner. Leaders are those people who maintain their followers so that they can increase their
people through this follower and if more people are increased then follower are also increased. In
case of Aviva plc, the main aim of leader is to maximize their profitability of firm and minimize
their losses and increase productivity levels in business which will result into enhance
performance of organization. It is someone who can see things in proper manner which can be
improved towards their better vision and connect more people to be successful.
Managers: From view point of Merriam Webster, manager is those people who work
with carefully and manage things in business in proper manner so that no one can complain
about things (Du, Swaen, Lindgreen and Sen, 2018). It handles those roles and responsibilities
which are process of getting some activities have to be completed in efficiently manner to set
some accomplishing goals and objectives for firm. The main purpose is to control their
performance of organization and they should perform most of task for implementing their
performance evaluation at some regular periods of time.
