INTRODUCTION
Leadership and management are one of the most important components of businesses
success within specific sector. Leadership means about obtaining people to believe and
understand vision set by the leaders for organizations and to work with them on achieving their
aims, while management is more about managing and making sure daily activities are occurrence
as they should. The current study is based on Premier Inn which falls under categories of leading
hotels in UK hospitality industry. This report will explain varied classical management theories
in context to industry, leaders role, varied leadership styles & specific management leadership
form in firm.
This assignment will contrast & compare leadership and management styles and justify
talent management as contemporary management & leadership model. Furthermore, it will
justify external and internal factors that impact talent management styles, critical analysis on
particular changes in management styles utilizing talent management strategies and also clarify
hard and soft current management & leadership skills. This study will discuss role of talent
management, its importance and leadership skills needed in service sector. Moreover,
comparison between management systems also discussed at the end of this study.
Activity 1
Several CM theories in relation to hospitality industry
There are three different types of classical management theories available in business
world that can be used by any company while operating and managing business activities within
hospitality industry (Stone and Rosopa, 2017).
Scientific management theory by Taylor-
This concept is made up of four important principles that plays vital role within company
when manager follow it in effective manner.
According to the first principles of above theory, manager do not stuck in set plan or
routine with old methods of completing work, they should be constantly experimented
something new that can increase productivity and make work easier do to.
Harmony is the second principle of this theory, which stated that management within
sector must create inclusive environment at workplace. It enhances motivation and
performance level of existing staff working under chosen industry.

Third principles named cooperative, that means all activities in work place done by
varied people can be carried on with a spirit of common cooperative. Manager in
hospitality industry work with their employees to determine standards
Development of every person to their greatest prosperity and efficiency is the last
principles of this theory, which stated that efficiency of workers should be taken care of
right from their selection, manager must arrange training programme for everyone.
Administrative theory by henry Fayol-
Along with the above classical management theory, Fayol administrative concept is also
quite beneficial in context of hospitality industry (Chahine, 2020). 14 principles of this theory
listed below-
Division of work-manager by following this principle while managing work hospitality
industry divide each task equally to specific person according to their abilities and skill as
well.
Accountability and authority- management is right to give command and have power to
get obedience, they should be capable to give orders.
Discipline- accordant to this principle, management and employees must respect an
follows rules that govern company as it make them able to work effectively.
Unity of direction- with this principle hospitality companies move their employees
towards a common objective in same direction.
Unity of command- only one leader or manager should lead a team that prevent people
from misunderstanding.
Subordination of individual interest- in organization operating under hospitality
industry, employees interests must not take precedence over business interest as whole.
Bureaucratic theory-
Along with above two classical management theories, it also relates to hospitality
industry and its management practices. According to this concept bureaucracy is basis for
systematic and appropriate formation of companies operating under chosen sector and it is
designed to assure economic effectiveness and efficiency. It is one of the best models for
hospitality management and its activities in term of bringing businesses power structure into
focus. It constitutes most effective and rational manner in which human action can be managed
