INTRODUCTION
Main objective of this essay is to understand the concept of leadership and management
in an organisation. For success of any organisation leader and mangers play an essential role.
They helps an organisation by supporting and encouraging employees towards goal of an
organisation. Their is a big difference between leadership and management but both are working
for achieving organisational goal and enhancing profitability for an organisation. Leadership is
related to communicating vision and mission of organisation to their workers while management
is quite more with implementing vision of organisation. Leadership helps an organisation in
setting a new direction related to vision and mission of company for a team which they support.
While management of an organisation is work for directing all resources of company in a team
according to the values and principles that already established in company. The management in
an organisation use a rational and formal method while leadership is work with passion and
mixing of emotions. For this essay Savoy Hotel is taking into consideration. It is an Luxury hotel
which is located in the city of Westminster, central Landon England. It was constructed in 1886
and opened in 1889. It was founded by Richard D'Oyly Carte with profit from his Gilbert and
Sullivan opera production. They have four restaurant and three bars and also provide a facility of
swimming pool and gym. This essay is based on the two important issues that are equality and
diversity issue and other one is technology which influence management style and growth of
virtual leadership. For better understanding these issues the reason behind occurrence of this
issues and various approaches of leadership and management which helps in resolving this issues
are included in this report.
MAIN BODY
Leadership
Leadership refers to an art which motivates a group of people to do work with their full
efficiency for the achievement of common goal (Ayman and Lauritsen, 2018). Leadership helps
a organisation by providing a right direction to workers and team members so that they can
effectively fulfil organisational needs. A effective leadership helps in developing people and
helping them so that they reach their full potential. It is an important function of management
which increase efficiency and productivity of employees and helps in achieving organisational
goal. Leadership include the quality of leading people without leadership a organisation cannot

succeed. For a effective leadership a leader must have a quality of confidence, good
communication, able for effective decision making, excellent innovator quality, honesty and so
on. All these qualities play an essential role for a good leadership style. Leadership in
organisation is an management approach. In context of The Savoy Hotel, their leaders helps
organisation in achieving their organisation goal by set up a strategic goal for organisation.
These strategic goal motivates employees to do work with their full efficiency and in a right
direction for achieving these goal. Their leaders have a good leadership quality which influence
the ability, modify and exercise control over the behaviour of employees (Baker, 2019).
Management
Management refers to various activities which helps an organisation in properly directing
and controlling employees in an organisation and helps in effectively achieving organisational
goal (Carroll and et. al. 2018). The concept of management is mostly related to development and
manipulation of human resources, natural resources, financial resources, technological resources
and so on. Management of an organisation is working for controlling day to day operations and
ensure that the whole work of organisation is moving to the same direction of company vision.
Managers of an organisation face many problems one of them is effectively managing people in
organisation. Main objective of management in an organisation is to enhance the level of
productivity in an effective and efficient manner. In context of selected hotel, their managers are
responsible for take care organisation work area related to time management , people
management, decision making and so on. A management of an organisation perform five
important functions which are planning, organisation, staffing, directing and controlling.
Management of selected firm effectively perform these functions which helps business in
achieving their goal (Carroll and et. al. 2018).
Role of Leadership and Management
Leadership and management play an essential role in the development of organisation
and successfully achieving organisational goal. In context of selected hotel various roe of
leadership and management are discuss below:
Role of leadership-
Provide an effective vision- In context of selected hotel, leadership play a role of
providing a strategic vision to entire team of selected business. This is because employees are not
efficiently participated in work if they do not receive a particular goal. This role of leadership in
