INTRODUCTION
Leadership is defined as activity and research area which is most important in all
organization as it motivates the employees who are working at workplace and increase the
organizational performance. A person who have ability and knowledge of managing all workings
and activities in relation to organization is considered as a leader. This person having different
skills and talent who understand the problems of employees which are pertaining in business
organization and manage the all activities so that higher profitability can be maintain effectively.
In other words, leadership involves identification, providing direction, inspiration, and guidance
which can help to motivates the employees and get the complete specific task in certain time
which can help to operate the business and increase productivity (Moldoveanu and Narayandas,
2019). If an organization is having effective leadership process then it can maximize the
organizational efficiency and profitability in competitive environment. This is important for all
organization to have effective leadership so that all activities can be maintain and attain the
higher performance. This report is based on a great business leader in global business
environment such Steve Jobs who determined as successful business leader all over the world
and managing their organization Apple in the challenging environment. This person is having
many qualities and ability to take risk while establishing their business and run it effectively.
This report is categorised in two sections. The first sector covers overview of main contemporary
challenges that faced in global context, consequences for leadership theory and importance of
entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial leadership. The second section covers appropriate theory of
leadership, philosophy, and reflection effectively.

About business leader
Steven Paul Jobs was an American business magnate, industrial designer, investor and
media proprietor who has formulated a business by becoming an good entrepreneur. This person
has born on February 24, 1955 and died on October 5th 2011. This person was the co-founder of
Apple Inc., who widely recognised as a pioneer of the personal computer revolution of 1970s
and 1980s. Jobs was born in San Francisco, California, and attended Reed college in 1972. This

person is largely responsible for helping revive Apple that supported to became a good business
entrepreneur.

According to Clinton (2018), to run a business and managing all activities there is need
to analyse the environment and activities which states what problems can arise in establishing
and entire the business in global environment. Entrepreneurship is the activity which uses by a
person by introducing new technology and innovation in their business that can help to operate
and regulate the business continuously in developing market and attain the higher profitability.
Steve Jobs is a good business leader who has established their business at global environment by
managing all activities and functions as this person having different skills which foster the
entrepreneurship. Different challenges are faced by business leader in context to global such as:
The need for wider ranging knowledge – For running and establishing a successful
business there is need to have good knowledge and skills which is most important to become a
good leaders. Steve Jobs faced this problem as this person having knowledge and talent in their
field and maintaining their task and responsibilities effectively but in case of other department
many problems faced by business leader that might be created the problems in becoming a
business executives. This is contemporary challenge which have been managed and handled by
sharing information and bringing new ideas in their business (Turner and et.al., 2018).
Information overloaded – This is another contemporary challenge which is facing by
business leader in running their business. It has been seen that executives having access to
extensive database which is filled with information that can greatly enhance their decision
making, but amount of data which is required to present on daily basis can be overwhelming that
needs to be solve by managing all information and knowing which is related to their business.
Steve Jobs be considered as strongest leader who knows how to extract the most valuable
information and transform it to strategic guidance that can help to operate and regulate the
business effectively by managing all informations accurately.
Ethics in the workplace – This is most important aspects which should be consider by
all business leader as it motivate the employees to work effective by working in systematic
manner. For instance, Steve Jobs is effective business leader who faced this problem at their

changes. This can create the major challenge for business leaders as it put pressure on their mind
how to sustain in competitive environment. For overcoming this challenge leaders should
regularly read the top industry blogs, follow them on Twitter, reads newsletters and their ideas,
and make efforts to bring changes that can help to operate the business regularly and provide
competitive business by bringing changes and innovation (Crisp and Alvarado‐Young, 2018).
Demand for skilled talent – In the global business environment many industries are
facing the common challenges due to which their productivity and profitability is reducing. For
running a business and managing the activities there is need to have skilled talent who can
manage the activities and innovation which are bringing by organization. It is hard to recruit and
retain the top performed so management should adopt effective leadership and management
theory which they can be use to motivate the people and attain the higher performance in
changing environment (Low and et.al., 2019).

Importance of Entrepreneurial leadership
Starting a new venture: Entrepreneurial leadership is important activity which helps to
start a new venture and enterprise by using skills and talent in challenging environment.
Attaining competitive advantage: A good entrepreneurs having skills which uses to
bring innovation and new products that attracts large number of customers and provide the
competitive advantages in changing environment.
Maintaining a sustainable business: This can be explained as sustainable business

which they adopts in organization for the purpose of increasing organizational capabilities. This
is important for each organization to have a good leader as it can run their business in changing
environment by motivating the staff which can help to manage the business and develop their
effectiveness (Glatthorn, Boschee, Whitehead and Boschee, 2018). Different leadership theories
and models are uses by business industry as many activities are required to perform which
provides the challenges and operate a business effectively. For instance, Steve Jobs was a
successful business leader who analysed their business situation, bring changes and adopted the
effective leadership theory which supported to manage the all activities and functions for the
purpose of increasing business performance and profitability. Different types of leadership
theories are as explained:
Great Man Theory/ Trait Theory – The theory originally proposed by Thomas Carlyle in
1949 and the assumption behind this theory is “Great leaders will arise, when there is great
need”. This is leadership theory that states the qualities and abilities of a person which they have
and supports to arrange the all activities so that each workings can be dome timely. This theory
helps to differentiate leaders from non-leaders that can help to operate and run the business in
changing environment by managing all activities (Megheirkouni, 2018).
Behavioural Theory – This can be explained as special behaviour pattern of leaders who
can be acquired by using different learning and experience programmes. The theory mainly
concentrate on “What the leaders do”. This is important for all leaders to maintain the good
behaviour by understanding demand of employees and make efforts to fill them which can help
to increase the organizational performance and profitability. This theory narrowed the leadership
behaviours into two categories:

Initiating structure: This structure refers as extent to which leaders likely to
define and structure their role and responsibilities. This can help to manage the all
employees and develop the business by behaving positively. A leader with
initiating structure is often task oriented which is divided between employees by
focusing on their performance and completing it on time (Hastings and Kane,
2018).
Consideration: According to this theory, leaders pays more attention on
employees rather than task. In this, leaders majorly concern about well being for
humans, comfort and satisfaction of employees that can help to accept the
challenges and increase performance. Moreover, this theory helps to maintain the
good relationship, respect for employees and good feeling.
Contingency/ Situational Theory – This is another theory of leadership which depends
upon situations. The success of leader does not depends on qualities, traits, and behaviour of
leader that helps to perform the all functions which can help to regulate the business. This theory
helps to suit for situation which arises in organization by interacting between number of
situational variables like leader, follower, and task situation that are important to manage (Gil,
Rodrigo-Moya and Morcillo-Bellido, 2018).
Transactional Theory of leadership – This theory of leadership was firstly discussed by
Max Weber in 1947 and later it was developed by Berbard M Bass in 1981. In this theory,
leaders guide and motivates their followers in direction of establishing goals by clarifying role
and task requirements. This theory involves motivation, direction followers primarily through
appealing to their own interest. In this theory, leaders believes that employees get motivation
through system of rewards and punishment. If a subordinate desires, reward and benefits then
management should be provide that can help to increase the organizational sales and
profitability. This theory of leadership involves contingent rewards, active management by
exception, passive management by exception, and Laissez- Faire that can help to operate the
business and increase the organizational performance in competitive environment. The effective
leaders who are in charge of transactional tends to be highly directive and action oriented and
their relationship with followers tends to be transitory and they are not basis on emotional bond
(Rosenbach, 2018) (Wasylyshyn and Masterpasqua, 2018).

Transformational Theory of leadership – This can be explained as leadership style
where in leaders encourages, inspire, and motivate the employees to innovate and create change
that can help to grow and shape the future success of company. The goals and objectives of
organization is accomplished by setting example at executive level by maintaining strong sense
of corporate culture, employee ownership and independence at workplace. Whenever
organization introduces new changes and products in their business then transformational leaders
are playing an important role as understand the task and provide training to all staff which can
help to operate and regulate the business continuously and attain the higher profitability in
changing environment. This also helps to develop a business by managing all functions and
activities which helps to accomplish competitive advantages. The transformational leaders work
to change the organizational culture by implementing new ideas and empower employees to
achieve company's goals by appealing higher ideals and moral values (Maheshwari and Yadav,
2019).
Personal leadership Philosophy
From the above I thinks that Behavioural leadership theory is effective as this can help to
maintain the good behaviour with employees and superiors that supports in organizational
working and attain the higher profitability. In this leadership, leaders understand the problems of
their employees which they are facing while operation and bring the changes so that each
problems can be solve and maintain the higher profitability in changing environment effectively.
Moreover, in this employees are more valuable than task that motivate the staff and complete the
workings as employees make their efforts to manage all activities (Woulfin and Kruse, 2018).

when I were a leader
When I was leaders in Sainsbury organization that is large size organization I noticed
many things that were very important to handle. I was working as a leader where different roles
and responsibilities I needed to handle. The employers of organization had not direct relation
where employees were facing many problem as lack of motivation, not accepting changes in
their organization due to lack of guidance and uncleared roles which has created the conflicts
between employees. As I was a leader I needed to handle all problems and required to motivate
the employees so that they can work effectively in organization and manage their workings

effectively. This is memorable incident for me that how to handle all issue in organization (Boak
and Crabbe, 2019).
This incident have increased my leadership skills and knowledge which have given me
great opportunity to show my talent by solving problem of employees and motivate them. I
handled all situation smoothly as first I actively have listen the problem which were facing
employees and analysed their performance which supported me to allocate the roles and
responsibilities between employees in which they are able to work. I arranged the training and
learning classes for employees where changes needs to accept which have directed employees
how to manage the activities and organizational functions. I shared the organization vision and
mission with employees and get their ideas for improving performance that motivated them and
increased the feeling as they are part of organization which helped to increase the organizational
performance and profitability. All employees managed their roles and responsibilities which
have given higher productivity in changing environment and deliver the competitive advantages.
Thus, I enjoyed this role as a leader a lot where I being improved my skills and knowledge in
different field (Schultz and et.al., 2019).
Where you followed a leader
Leaders are explained as quite hero of organization to maintains a good relation between
employer and employees so that all workings can be done at right time and increase the business
performance. As a leader I managed and arranged the all workings of organization smoothly
which have give me opportunity as people started to follow me. This is great chance for me as
people were started to follow and understand me as a ideal person in Sainsbury where I was
working as a leader who get ideas by observing me as how I handle all complex situation
smoothly and brings new ideas to increase business performance. I have number of qualities such
as good communication, team work, coordinator, resilient, passionate, openness, clear vision,
self- confidence and decision making skills that is highly liking by people and they are adopting
such qualities in their life as they are working at different workplace. As being good leader I
always remember that how employees can be satisfied and could retain in organization for long
term. This quality is is followed by people and they are now formulating effective planning
which helps them to operate their business effectively (Zeier, Plimmer and Franken, 2018).
As I followed as leader by people I feel good and unique that have increased to bring
more learnings in my life which can help to eliminate my weakness which were I faced while

handling all activities. This incident was memorable moment for me that make me proud as I am
capable to manage all workings and complexities easily. This also provide me future
employment opportunity by completing task and project.
Where you observed leadership in another in a global context
In global context I could be observed as a good leader if I overcome all problem and
weakness which I noticed while handling the situation. As I was working in multinational
company as a leader I handled all problems of employees which they were facing and provide
them right direct how to work and increase performance. While this working I adopted
Behavioural leadership theory where I mainly focused on employees who are main assets of
organization as they works effectively. I understood their problems and provide them right
solution which motivated them to work properly by managing all activities and functions. This
role have improved my knowledge and skills in leadership and business area that would surely
provide me good business opportunity in upcoming years.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that leadership is the important activity which
uses by organization for the purpose of develop their business by increasing performance and
profitability. The management should be understand problems and challenges that are pertaining
in business and required to manage all conflicts which can help to maintain higher performance.
As a leaders there is requirement of various skills and qualities as communication, coordination,
mutual understanding, building good relationship, team working, active listener, problem
solving, resilient and others can help to be a good leader and handle the all roles and
responsibilities effectively. This can help to increase the organizational productivity and
profitability in competitive environment that maintain higher performance.
In global business intrapreneurial and entrepreneurial leadership is needed as it helps to
establish a good business in global environment by brining innovation and improvement in
existing activities. This deliver the higher outcome if all activities are properly managed. In
entrepreneurial leadership, leaders and entrepreneurs comes with new innovation and products
which influences the number of customers and develop the business in other areas. Whereas,
intrapreneural leadership, employees bring the improvement by formulating plans and strategies
which can help to increase increase organizational profitability
