The Hofstede Model Analysis

Power, Masculinity/Femininity and
Uncertainty Avoidance
 Power-The power structure in Kuwait is that of a hierarchical one, where the employees will always abide by the decisions taken by
their superiors.
 However in Australia the hierarchy is only for the smooth working of the organization. The managers are always approachable.
 Two way conversation is always encouraged.
 Femininity- Kuwait has a low score on femininity and a high score on masculinity. With a score of 40 Kuwait is a relatively feminine
country and usually try to get peace through negotiation and compromise (Bakir et al.2015).
 Australia is on the other hand masculine with a score of 61. They are mainly living with the motif of being the best and fighting for the
best results.
 Uncertainty Avoidance- Kuwait , with a score of 80 is high on the uncertainty avoidance index and want to avoid all sorts of conflicts.
They are orthodox in nature.
 On the other hand Australia is open and of a liberal nature. At the same time, they are also disciplined as well. They score 50 on this
scale.

Things to remember in Australia
 An employee travelling from The Avenue Mall, Kuwait to Australia
 must follow the following things-
 Open mindedness
 No gift giving among business clients
 Be open in formal touching like handshake
 Wear formals to meetings
 Two way communication with boss. (Nguyen et al 2017).
 No beating about the bush or repeating same points while addressing business clients

I feel that I will have to undergo proper training in order
to work successfully in Australia.
Body language needs special attention while working in
Australia.
Strict attention towards deadlines has to be developed.
