Leadership practices of Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos
Mark Zuckerberg is considered as a renowned computer programmer and entrepreneur. He is
known as the CEO of FACEBOOK. He was born on May 14, 1984, in Dobbs Ferry, New York.
It is examined that Facebook is one of the famous social media sites that is used by the majority
of individuals on the global platform. It has been examined that he possesses the leadership skills
which helped him to achieve success on the global platform. The management style considered
by him is related to "Being more connected". With an effective leadership style, he managed to
cope up with obstacles and hurdles (Crow, 2017).
It has been observed that he considered one of the leadership theory related to transformational
leadership. Mark Zuckerberg is defined as the leader who is aggressive but encourages the
individuals. He is a person who has the skill of constant innovation and also he loves to face
challenges. Mark Zuckerberg considered the three styles of leadership such as autocratic,
democratic and laissez-faire (Northouse, P.G., 2017). He gives the command to his employees to
complete the assigned task but also he takes feedback from everyone. It is believed by him that
employees are assets and it is important to treat them equally. The leadership styles considered
by him help to offer support to the employees and also it evaluates the situations where the
change is required (Hoffmann, Proferes and Zimmer, 2018).
In relation to the democratic leadership style, it has been seen that he delegates the activities to
the subordinates. The overall issues are analyzed by him and he is only the one who gives an
accurate decision which is beneficial for the company and also for the third party. In relation to
this style of leadership, he emphasizes on maintaining an effective channel of communication, so
that it could be easy for the employees to share their views and opinions with the high
authorities. The laissez-faire style is also considered in which he discusses the issues with the
staff and finds out the right decision (Livermore, 2013).
The leadership qualities that are possessed by Mark Zuckerberg are the style of communication
and work-life balance. It is evaluated that he is a strong communicator who shares his views and
ideas with the employees. He gives reaction to the issues in such a way that the workers get
motivated with the words spoken by him in meetings. Therefore, it can be stated that it is one of
the best quality which is possessed by him as a leader (Walker, 2019). The next quality is

concerned with work-life balance. The main aim of Mark Zuckerberg is to maintain work-life
balance as he believes that employees can give their best if the work-life balance is present.
Through effective leadership skills, Mark Zuckerberg attains growth and success. Facebook has
achieved growth and success in the competitive market just due to the right guidance given by
him to its employees. Just due to effective leadership he is able to manage the conflicts and
issues and also he focuses on boosting the motivation level of the employees (Hoffmann,
Proferes and Zimmer, 2018).
But it has been examined that Jeff Bezos is also the popular leader, who is also the inspiration of
other people. He is an American entrepreneur, investor and Philanthropist. He is known as the
CEO of Amazon and he has a major role in boosting the growth of the company in the highly
competitive market. He was born on January 12, 1964, in New Mexico and also founded
Amazon in 1994. It can be analyzed that the company started its business from the online
bookstore and now the company is one of the largest online selling brand (Nisen, 2019). The
leadership style followed by him is unique and different as the main emphasis given by him is on
the customers. The customers are considered as the king. Also, he has a high expectation from
the employees and also he never apologizes for it. Jeff Bezos takes the decisions on their own
without consulting with their employees (Cusumano, 2017).
There are various characteristics which are possessed by him as a leader. It has been observed
that he has the quality of taking high risk. Jeff always takes a high risk by investing the huge
money in the business or in projects. When he emphasized on bringing change from the book
stores to the various products segments, then at that time he has taken a strong decision as he was
not sure that it will be successful or not (Pisani, 2019). But then also he took the risk and now the
company is one of the largest online companies on the global platform. Jeff also possesses the
motivational skill through which the employees are guided to consider the right decisions. He
also focuses on motivating the employees as it assists them to achieve a positive outcome in the
overall activities. To boost the motivation level of the employees, he focused on offering
effective training sessions and incentive schemes (Kantor and Streitfeld, 2015).
If the comparison is made between the two leaders, it has been stated that Mark Zuckerberg
focuses on dealing with the situation with aggression but Jeff Bezos take accurate decisions by
having patience. The main aim of Jeff Bezos is to boost the customer satisfaction as he follows
