CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND TO THE RESEARCH Every organisation be it profit or non-profit organisation requires management and leadership for ensuring that all actions are taken towards the organisational objectives. Similarly, management assists in the implementation and formation of all necessary strategic planning for the success of an organisation (Samosudova, 2017). Charity and non-profit organisations with great leadership are able to handle every activity without putting in situations and the charity's clearly defined objectives is more readily attained. Leaders influence the variety of results which include customer satisfaction, productivity, sales, revenue and many more (Taylor, Wills and Hoadley, 2019). For conducting the current investigation MCM int’l Ltd is selected because it is known as non-profit organisation. This organisation provides assistance to the single mothers, pregnant teenagers and low-income family. In the current dissertation, investigator has aimed at grasping philosophy of management and leadership (Álvarez-González and et. al., 2017). 1.2 RESEARCH QUESTION, AIM(S) & OBJECTIVES Research Aim The aim is to study the impact of leadership and management styles and methods on volunteers efficiency and productivity level of Non-profit organisation”. A case study of MCM int’l Ltd Research Questions To understand the concept of the leadership and management for the development of the Non-profit organisation To determine the benefits of leadership and management methods on the enhancement of the Volunteers productivity and involvement in the low-income families and other survivals life To identify the significance of non-profit organisation in the evolvement of the society and communities and improve the living of the children without families and even single parent family. Research Objectives Explain the concept of the leadership and management for the development of the Non- profit organisation?
What are the benefits of leadership and management methods on the enhancement of the Volunteers productivity and involvement in the low-income families and other survivals life? What is thesignificance of non-profit organisation in the evolvement of the society and communities and improve the living of the children without families and even single parent family? 1.3 JUSTIFICATION FOR THE RESEARCH The main purpose of conducting the current investigation is to investigate about the leadership and management practices. These practices are introduced by the volunteers who serve in MCM int’l Ltd. The leadership and management practices is chosen as the topic of the current investigation because they assist in managing every activity and operations of the business in appropriate and systematic way (Hammad, Samier and Mohammed,2020). The present investigation also includes the strategies used by non-profit organisations to execute in the business (Alrowwad and Abualoush, 2020). This topic is also chosen to determine the impact of leadership and management within the charitable organisations (Ding, Choi and Aoyama, 2019). Thecurrentresearchisneededbecauseithelpsindeterminingvarioustypesof management and leadership practices especially for non-profit organisations (Hallinger and Hosseingholizadeh, 2020). There are certain work in these non-profit organisations that are completed when the company follows appropriate leadership theory. When companies form strategies of leadership and management they face certain challenges so the current investigation also aims at finding solutions and ways to mitigate and overcome challenges (Cole, 2018). The current research has determined that non-profit organisations use transformational leadership theory because in this leader operates with followers and unit beyond their immediate self-interests to determine required change, forming a vision to lead the change by inspiration and influence (Thomas, Trucks and Kouns, 2019). The major benefit of transformational leadership at the business level is that it assists to create a greater sense of commitment to the mission of non-profit (Kim and Peng, 2018). It has great impact on the business when they visibly use such leadership skills into action (Jones and et. al., 2018). By conducting the current investigation, researcher will gain information about the various types of leadership theories and management. This information will be useful for researcher especially when they will enter in their professional career (Lu, 2018).

1.4 OUTLINE METHODOLOGY For conducting the present dissertation there is requirement to consider certain research methodologies. Research methodologies hold great significance in the present investigation because they help in collecting appropriate piece of information so that defined aim, objectives and questions could be attained (Melnikovas, 2018). The present investigation has aimed at collecting qualitative as well as quantitative information from variety of sources. The qualitative methodology helps in the collection of data that is available in the format of text on the other hand, quantitative methodology is also considered because it assists in gathering information that is available in numerical format (Saunders, 2017). Primary and secondary data collection methods are also used to collect information appropriate to the topic i.e. leadership and management practices in the non-profit organisations (Sinha, Clarke and Farquharson, 2018). For the collection of primary information researcher focuses on conducting interview as well as questionnaire. On the other hand, researcher has aimed at gathering second-hand data from books, articles, journals, newspapers etc. 1.5 OUTLINE OF THE REST OF THE DISSERTATION Chapter 1: Introduction It is foremost chapter in conducting the whole investigation. In this chapter aims, questions and objectives are mentioned. This chapter also justifies the reasons of choosing the topic. Chapter 2: Literature review Literature review is the chapter in which researcher aims at addressing every question of the investigation so that defined aim and objectives could be attained in systematic manner. It considers scholars, books, articles etc. Chapter 3: Research methodology Research methodology is the chapter that covers all the necessary methods to collect and analyse information in appropriate and systematic way. Chapter 4: Findings This chapter covers the findings of the information carried out through questionnaire, interview and secondary information. Chapter 5: Analysis and Conclusion
This is the section in which investigator focuses at analysing the reliability and validity of the gathered information in systematic way (Hechanova, Caringal-Go and Magsaysay, 2018). After this proper summary is included about each chapter so that reader could take basic information about the topic. SUMMARY From the above gathered information in the part of introduction it is summarised that leadership and management theories play essential role in the non-profit organisations. It also involves the various methodologies that are going to be used in conducting dissertation and attaining the pre-defined objectives.
