INTRODUCTION
Leadership is the process of influencing the behaviour of people by making them strive
voluntarily towards attainment of organisational objectives and goals. Management on the other
hand is the process of designing and maintaining an environment in which individuals working
together in group efficiently accomplish selected aims. In this report NHS is chosen as the
organisation. NHS is basically a public funded healthcare system which was founded in 1948 and
headquartered in London, United Kingdom. The report involves the development and
demonstration of the effective leadership skills and critical assessment of the existing leadership
and management capabilities and also using a range of theoretical models and range of academic
models for the purpose to identify the leadership strengths and weaknesses.
MAIN BODY
Develop and demonstrate effective leadership skills
Leadership and management skills plays a very important role in the current NHS
modernisation programme. In context to the leadership my personal aim is to be a
transformational leader. It is basically a type of leadership approach that involves changes in the
social systems and individuals. My main objective is to be leader who has credibility and
inspirational qualities. It also involves the supportive, approachable, trustworthy and hard
working skills. For me to be a successful leader, it is important to understand and self assess
about my self knowledge. If an individual is able to find out the areas for development and
identifying their strengths and areas for the development(Heyler and Martin, 2018).There are
various strengths and key qualities that I need to identify and which will help me to become a
more effective leader that helps in developing my development needs. In order to be a good
leader and make my management skills stronger,firstly I need to improve my time management
skills and also increasing my self confidence and capability to confront colleagues in a self
managed process. My main objective is to improve my time management skills as it is very
important for me to be good enough to manage my time as poor time management and
organisation basically results in creating a negative impact on all groups and my colleagues(Daft,
and Marcic, 2019).
In addition to that I have identified that I need to focus on building a long term plan as it
becomes difficult to deal with the day to day tasks. In order to assess my existing leadership and
