INTRODUCTION
The leadership and management emphasize on motivating the individuals to enhance the
complete effectiveness of the organisation. This report will discuss the prevailing leadership and
the management capabilities by using the academic and the theoretical models along with the
development and planning of the management and leadership developmental activities as an
individual as well as being a member of a team (Kragt and Guenter, 2018).
MAIN BODY
Examine the existing leadership and management capabilities using a range of academic and
theoretical models
I have analysed my performance skills in particular areas of leadership which helped me
finding the action plan which would help me in my skill development. There exists various
competencies and skills that are needed to become an effective leader. With the help of the
leadership assessment told, I have explored and acquired my related strengths and the
weaknesses. Along with that I have also developed the precise and clear expectations. Although
there are times when I can not express in a clear manner so I need to remember that the increased
performance of a particular team is impacted from clear comprehension of the expectations along
with the stable and fair rules. Moreover, I have always encouraged my team members that
encouraged me in my growth. Although, I was not much better at motivation that helps in the
challenges and encouragement to the individuals. This can also come out to be accurate as I am
planning to offer the members of the team with enough challenges that increases their
performances and still the level is not so high to be demotivating. When it comes to the matter of
self confidence then my score is 9/10. I have confidence in myself and I am always working for
the enhancing my potential level. This assessment provided the self reflection and with the help
of that I could reflect myself in a more clear manner. After the completion of the leadership
assessment that improved my self awareness and also assisted me in recognising my
developmental and the strengths opportunities (Barr and Dowding, 2019).
The contingency model of the leadership identifies that there may be the existing
variables which can create an impact on the specific situation and for that the leader must select
the appropriate course of action taking into consideration those variables. The situational
leadership theory defines the impact of the situational variables and it does not take into account
the leadership style of anyone else to be better than them. The transformational leadership theory

emphasizes on the relationship between the followers and the leaders. The transactional theory
involves the role of the teamwork, organisation and supervision and take into consideration the
punishments and the rewards on the basis of the actions of the leadership. The behavioural theory
focuses on the changes from the qualities or traits of the leaders to their actions and behaviours.
The great man theory of the leadership is made on the basis that the leaders are born and not
made which means that the leadership quality is something which can be learned. The trait
theory of leadership will assist in enhancing the theories of leadership and it also assumes that
the leaders who are born with the traits which makes them more appropriate for the function of a
leader than the others who do not possess those natural born traits that includes specific qualities
like accountability, intelligence, creativity, sense of responsibility and others which makes a
particular person to be at top of the leadership.

Examine the professional position
To enhance the leadership development it is important for an individual to understand himself
and examine or assess the position where he stands in a professional manner. Taking into
consideration the strengths, tendencies of the workplace and the weaknesses can assist the
individual in identifying the scope for improvement and predict the issues which arise in the
journey to improve (Duncan, 2020).
Setting of attainable objective
Setting of an objective is an important element in the leadership development plan. While the
individual specifies, defines or develop the main objectives, it should be taken into account the
way in which the individual will measure the progress in the way for making sure that they are
on track.
Engaging in leadership training
Leadership training can offer the advantage no matter the stage of the career. More than the
opportunity to acquire and practice the skills required for supporting the employees and creating
an impact on others. The leadership abilities in the team is very crucial and provide the benefit
because it also offers the low-risk environment for re-examining and re-evaluating the objectives
when any kind of the setbacks are being faced.

A professional network is the most useful resource in leadership so it is important for an
individual performing in the team to focus on that. In the leadership development journey, it is
recommended to connect with the similar minded people and look for the opportunities not just
for the knowledge which has been acquired but also for getting the feedback on the improvement
(Lumpkin and Achen, 2018).
Improving the soft skills
An effective and efficient leadership needs a unique combination of the skills and the
characteristics. According to the leadership development plan it is important to take into account
the soft skills such as practising empathy, listening actively and development of the value in
negotiation which will assist in overcoming the challenges of the organization which comes in
the way.
While executing the leadership development plan, a regular system of tracking and
recording the performance. This assist in encouraging the individual to fulfil the organisational
objectives. Moreover, it will also help in preventing from going out of the track if an individual
faces difficult obstacle in the plan and encounter a new potential direction. When it is known
about the position in the plan then it becomes easy to change it according to the opportunities
and the challenges (Eurich, 2018). I need to perform more in the filed of communication,
punctuality along with the timing. From the leadership activity it helped me in the improvement
in presenting, for researching the data and the quotation.

From the above report it has been concluded about the prevailing leadership and the
management capabilities by using the academic and the theoretical models along with the
development and planning of the management and leadership developmental activities as an
individual as well as being a member of a team.
