CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Research Background:
To understand the impact of various leadership styles on HR management practices within an organisation and the
Research with leadership styles has led to provide crucial elements of the proper background of the study
(Bratton, 2020). It seems that a leader is defined as a person who can lead the team for the purpose of getting
things done to move towards the better vision. All the organisations are required to have clear set of rules in the
company. Leadership is explained as the process of influencing the activities of the individuals and leadership
style are the method which are used to deal with human resource for the purpose of effective utilisation of
resources. Various factors are also considered such as skills, experience, motivation for elevating the level of
productivity, efficiency and the goals of the chosen company can also be achieved with the help of a leadership
style. It also plays a major role in offering the main direction towards the achieving the goals of the company
(Bush,2018).
Research Aim: “To analyse the impact of various leadership styles on HR management practices within an
organisation”. A study on Tesla.
Research Objectives: To determine the various leadership styles that can be used by organisation to improve HR
Management.
To evaluate the leadership style adopted by Tesla to manage HR effectively and efficiently at workplace.
To determine the challenges faced by Tesla while using leadership styles for managing HR within an organisation.
Research Questions:What are the various leadership styles that can be used by organisation to improve HR
Management?
What are the leadership style adopted by Tesla to manage HR effectively and efficiently at workplace? What the challenges faced by Tesla while using leadership styles for managing HR within an organisation
of Tesla?
Research Rationale: The fundamental reason for this proposal is to understand about the types of leadership. A
greater research is required to fuel the ways which can be used to improved the challenges in leadership style to
manage HR effectively and efficiently at workplace. Main rationale regarding the selection of current topic is to
identify the various types leadership style which can be used to improve the HR management in the organization.
Leadership helps the organisation to improve their level of performance in the company. The main interest in
selecting the current topic or research is to improve my knowledge about the importance of leadership style within
organization and also to understand the various challenges faced by Tesla in managing HR. This research will

help me in increasing my knowledge for the leadership styles adopted by Tesla in order to manage the human
resource.
Research Significance: The finding of the study will rebound to the role of leadership in Tesla that plays an
important role in the organisation. Thus, the organisations that apply the leadership style will help the employees
to improve their performance.

CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW
Various leadership styles that can be used by organisation to improve HR Management
According to Martinuzzi B. (2021), there are various leadership styles which are useful in motivating
people so that the new plans can be implemented to direct the people. It also projected that it is essentail to be
familiar with the types of leadership style which can work best for the various situations and all the skills which
are required to be developed. Proper practise is important to follow the best approach in order to gain trust, loyalty
to grow and evolve. The article also concluded that the traditional approaches are also relevant at the workplace as
it further helps in developing a style that will enhance the leadership effectiveness of the organisation (Leadership
Styles and How to Find Your Own, 2021).
According to Becker B. (2021), There are eight most common leadership styles and it is also important to
understand the suitable leadership style for the organisation. As per the given article, leadership styles can be
defined as various methods and behaviour of leaders which are essential while managing the team. Leaders also
plan the strategies for the purpose of fulfilling the expectation of the stakeholders and the team mates (The 8 Most
Common Leadership Styles, 2021).
According to Lee S. (2020), There are positives and negatives of each leadership style and the companies
are required to find out the best and suitable leadership style as per their situation and requirement. The author has
explained about ten most common leadership styles (10 leadership styles and their pros and cons, 2020).
Leadership style adopted by Tesla to manage HR effectively and efficiently at workplace
According to Mohammed H. (2021) , Leadership style affects the organisation in reference to their
productivity and efficiency at the workplace in which the good leader will focus on providing the available
resources in order to fulfil the objective of the company. By using the proper style of leadership, the employees
can figure out their level of attainment of the corporate goals and objectives. As per the chosen company that is
Tesla, its main goal is to be more sustainable in the future and it is one of the world's most valuable company and
it follows the Transformtional leadership as this leadership has helped the company to have a strong team and has
innovative ideas in order to bring innovation in the operations of management (Leadership styles Elon Musk
Tesla, 2021).
According to Loria K.(2018), There are seven tips to be productive from Elon Musk which are related to
the matter of meetings and how to be more efficient that can be done by picking relevant guidance as per the
situation. The article also explained that Musk announced that he wanted to adopt 24/7 shift to get the production
for the purpose of Tesla's Model 3 electrical car on track. To make such changes, he also offered a list of his own
productivity recommendations. It can be understood that Musk is not a fan of meeting, hierarchy and he also
motivated the employees to give their suggestions so that the work can be made better and more efficient (7 tips
on how to be productive from Elon Musk, 2018).

According to Balzek. K(2016), It explained the transformational leadership style of Elon Musk as it is
used to classify the group that helps in interacting between leaders and followers. It is a way to manage people by
focusing on the short-term tasks and it is one of the common leadership style which is used by many organisation
(The transformational Leadership Style of Elon Musk, 2022).
Challenges faced by Tesla while using leadership styles for managing HR within an organisation of Tesla
According to Golden. R(2017), there are several challenges which are faced by Tesla in managing HR of
the given company that is Tesla such as dealing with various controversies like discrimination, unsafe working
condition and harassment at the workplace. Discrimination at workplace affects the level of engagement and
satisfaction of the employees. As sexual harassment can affect the metal health of employees that can lead to
create a environment which will be harder for the employees in order to succeed (Tesla to shake up HR leadership
as employee allegations surface, 2017).
According to Atkins. B. (2019), There are various challenges which are faced by Tesla in managing
various functions of Tesla such as safety, finance, production or leadership. It highlighted the issues as the
company ran out of money, slashing jobs or pivoting production (Tesla's Leadership Challenge, 2019).
According to Debord. M. (2016), The article explained the various problems that Tesla is still learning how to be
a world class car maker and ways to make the potential customers satisfied. Musk has always been ambitious and
has an image that inspired the Tony Stark character from Iron Man

CHAPTER 3: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research Methodology is defined as the proper set of techniques which are used to determine and analyse the
information about the topic and it allows the reader to evaluate the overall reliability of the
information .Leadership Styles and How to Find Your Own, 2021n. This methodology contains proper procedures
which are used to analyses the information about a topic and it is an important area of the research project because
it helps the researcher in setting the process of analysis of data (Bush,2018). Such methodologies comprises of
various collection methods, statistical analysis and the overall observations (Bush, Bell and Middlewood, 2019).
Research philosophy:
It is explained as a framework which helps in guiding about the nature of knowledge and regarding the ways in
which data should be collected and evaluated. There are two types of research that is positivism and
interpretivism. As per this research project, positivism will be taken into consideration as it is more trustworthy &
it aim to focus on explaining and predicting the research process. It helps in acquiring information that will be
helpful in reducing the problems in research. This will help the researcher in order to work independently for the
purpose of collecting and evaluating data. Interpretivism is not chosen for the research as it has low level of
reliability as compared to the positivism.
Research approach: It is refers to the plans for the purpose that comprises of broad assumptions of the data
collection and its interpretation and it is defined as the set of plan is implemented in order to facilitate the process
of data collection. There are two types of Research approach such as inductive and deductive. According to this
project, deductive approach will be selected as it clears the point and less time consuming. Whereas Inductive
approach focus on developing a theory that is why it is not suitable for the research (Clark and Harrison, 2018).
Research choice: It explains the foundation of the conducted research which is divided into two such as
qualitative and quantitative. As per the project, quantitative research is being considered. The main aim behind
this selection is that it helps in focusing on facts of information which is useful for better analysis. There are
various types of research methodology which are explained below-
Quantitative Research- It can be defined as the process of collecting the numerical data that will be used
to make predictions in order to get the results from the wider population. It also eliminates the issues by
targeting on actual data. This research also allows to focus on the series of information.
Qualitative Research- This research is defined as the non-numerical reference in the research and it
targets on obtaining the data with the help of open-ended communication. This research is not reliable as
much as the above mentioned research and this research is also used in collecting the in depth knowledge
so that the new ideas can be generated.
Research strategy: There are various strategies such as qualitative interview, case study, survey, action-oriented
research and many others. It is divided into various parts such as case study and surveys for the purpose of
research strategy, surveys will be selected as per the requirement of this project. As surveys provides a high level
