Introduction
There are various theories of leadership that to a large extent have influenced the management
and performance of all organizations in the globe. Some of these theories that will form part of
this paper discussion include: Dispersed theory of leadership which entails seeing leadership as
being diffused in all areas of the organization. It argues that leadership should be dispersed or
distributed/spread amongst the whole team of stokes of competence. In other words, having a
whole team given part of the overall goal or objective to achieve can help the organization in
achieving its objectives. This involves the human capital in a specific organization to be self-
managed. The other theory of interest involved in this paper is Macgregor’s theory X and Y of
leadership as will be seen in the Oman Electricity transmission company.
Theory Y managers are those leaders who are optimistic and have positive opinion and thoughts
over their stock of competence since they are self-managed and goal oriented. On the contrary,
according to MacGregor, firms with theory X appro0ach kind of leadership have got a number of
managers and supervisors / leaders to oversee and direct workers. It is very difficult for the
human resource in this kind of leadership to be left alone or unsupervised. Authority cannot be
delegated thus it strictly remains centralized.

structure of the organization, much attention is paid on teamwork, interactions based on face to
face through additional knowledge acquisition and innovation.
According to Koo et al (2018) the organizational structure puts more emphasis on the qualities
such as empowerment of the stock of competence, side by side relationship, parity and consensus
building. The structure of the organization is affected to some extent by the macro environment.
Given the fact that the organization deals with uncertain and unstable environment, its decision
making has been decentralized it does not rely more on the legal rules and policies i.e. vertical
structure. The seven structure that are found in this organization. It is also important to note that
the organization is managed through corporate governance. That is the company has got a system
that dictates how the organization will be organized, managed and supervised. This further
include the code of ethics that guides the firm and all its subsidiaries (Interfax. 2018, p.1).
