Learning and Development is one of the most effective and
essential parts of a person’s professional life which is related to
enhancement of one’s skill set and competencies in line with the
field of work in which they currently function. Therefore, the
presentation ahead is based on Learning and Development as a
coach, which covers critical reflection of one’s potential
through theoretical models, as well as creation of personal
development strategies which are underpinned by critical self-
reflection
Introduction

Definition of coaching
Coaching is a process that aims to improve performance and focuses on the “here and now” rather
than on the distant past or future.
Coaching is unlocking a person`s potential to maximize their own performance. It is helping them
to learn, better than teaching them.
Coaching is defined as training or development that helps a learner to achieve a goal. The role of
the coach will be from instructor,friend,mentor,demonstrator,adviser,supporter,motivator,planner
and the Fountain of all Knowledge.

As a coach, it is highly essential that the potential which
a person holds is appropriately and critically reflected
which provides a clear insight of the skills they
possessed, the areas which are their core strengths, as
well as the areas which are yet to be improvised by these
individuals. Furthermore, this also allows them to self
assess their professional growth requirements which are
crucial for a sustainable development.
Critical Reflection of Potential as a Coach

Coaching Skill Self Assessment Tool
It is a framework designed to reflect upon current skill and competencies of a coach, along with
determination of several areas of improvement. One of the most effective aspect of this tool is that it
helps an individual in critically reflect upon all their skills which is associated with the scores which
they have given themselves, as well as the ones which others such as peers, colleagues and seniors
have provided them.
