TASK 1

INTRODUCTION
• With the increasing living standard tourist mainly opt the different travelling
option that results in meting their leisure and luxurious need. Therefore, it results
in developing and enhancing the travel and tourism industry that directly
contribute in growing the economy. The present presentation mainly focuses on
the different legislation and legal regulatory framework that operates within the
travel and tourism sector.

1.1 The legal and regulatory framework of the travel
and tourism sector
• Legal and regulatory framework means which is consists of knowledge about the legal
and regulatory framework of that particular country. It is governed by acts of parliament.
The key aim of legal and regulatory framework of travel and tourism is to promote its
travel business so that it may increases the value of tourism within UK region. It is a
legal system which involves rules and regulations that mainly governs rules related with
the decision making, agreements and laws etc.

• Development of tourism act 1969
• It is the law consists of various laws and regulations for
tourism sector. It has been regulated in UK. It also
established the British tourist authority and tourists
boards for England and Wales.

• On the the other hand, regulatory framework
that is Association of British Travel Agents
(ABTA) is one of the largest travel association
of UK, which has been formed by the
government of UK. It has framed code of
conduct which consists of issues related to
tourism such as insurance notification,
communication, booking etc.

1.2 Surface, sea and air transport law in relation to carriage of
passengers
• There are various law framed in perspective of carriage of passengers
through surface, sea and transport. Government of UK always wants to
protect the rights of costumers and passengers while they are traveling
from surface , sea and air. Carrier is one who is able to transport persons
and goods from a given place to another.

Sea and waterways regulation this act applies to passengers who is traveling to or by;
• Through fairy services .
• Cruise.
• The ship which is not certified to carry 12 passengers.
• The crew of ship is not responsible for operating the respective ship.
• This act also applies to the situations of loss due to natural calamities or any loss due
to loss and damages caused to passengers during traveling by sea transport.

Air transportation regulation- it has been governed under civil aviation authority,which is
one of the important organizations in uk, which has this act is framed from the view point of:
• To protect the costumers when they are using air transport
• In case of death, personal injury or damage , the passenger is entitled to have compensation.
• It is an obligation for passengers to carry tickets while traveling
• it helps the passengers in case of flight is delayed or canceled due to some reasons.
• Meals, refreshments and accommodation should be given during waiting time.

Carriage by road act- this act gives protection to passengers for:
• while the persons are traveling through road.
• In case of theft , or any other personal losses.
• It also focuses on to assure the safety and health of passengers.
• Develop policies for the promotion and encouragement of safe and
economic transport facilities.
• This regulation also contains plans and strategies about
normalization of public transport industries.

Railways act- The governing body under this act is known as SRA which
means strategic rail authority. This act has been framed to give protection
to passengers in case of any injury or any other kind of losses and for that
too passenger is entitled to receive compensation. More over, it also
focuses on to prevent the abuse of dominant position which has a negative
impact. It focuses on to help the rail industry to grow and develop by
efficient management skills and systems. In addition, it also includes
regulation of work schedule of rail drivers and workers.
