Introduction/ Project Background
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are concerning as an increasing number of deaths due to
CVDs are reported globally. The CVDs can possibly be prevented by addressing the most
common risk factors, which include obesity, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet and consumption
of alcohol. A heart surgeon, Professor John Price and physicist Dr Ben, has formulated that it is
possible to process ECG test result of a person to identify whether the person has any critical
CVD. They came up with a conclusion that heart diseases with a high probability can easily be
diagnosed with machine learning algorithms. On basis of the findings, a new business venture
called CardioHealth is proposed that will provide ECG test services to the patients.
In the following paragraphs, the description of the life cycle of CardioHealth project is
provided along with the detailed analysis of the stakeholders. A project charter is prepared that
outlines the necessary details of the project. A detailed and multi-leveled work breakdown
structure (WBS) is prepared to provide an idea of the major work processes associated with the
proposed project.
1. Description of Life Cycle Phases of the Project
The CardioHeath project involves four broad phases, which are Phase 1-Initiation, Phase
2-planning, Phase 3-Execution and Phase 4-Closure. The CardioHealth project is not associated
with the phase, monitoring and control. The description of each of the life cycle phases of the
Cardio Health project are indicated as follows-
Phase 1-Initiation: The initiation phase is important for CardioHealth project as it will
identify and document the key objectives and the need of implementation of the project. This is
necessary to execute a feasibility study for the given project.

The initiation phase for the Cardio Health project is important to identify the objectives
of the project and to develop a rough idea of the implementation plan. In this phase, several
meetings are held to address the project needs and specifications
Phase 2-Planning: The planning phase is important to develop the identified project idea
and objectives into a feasible project plan (Lock 2014). The planning stage further involves
identification of the strategy and approach of implementation. In this phase, a detailed project
plan is prepared that outlines and documents the schedule, budget and resource requirements of a
project.
In the planning phase of CardioHealth project, a detailed project plan is prepared that
provides an idea of the activities, tasks, dependencies and the timeframe for execution of each
task along with a detailed work schedule. A risk management process is executed at this stage to
ascertain that the project team does not faces any problem while execution of the same.
Phase 3: Execution: This is the most vital phase of the lifecycle as in this particular
phase, the project plan prepared is put to action (Heagney 2016). In this stage the manager
observes the detailed implementation and execution of the project to ensure that the key
objectives set in the initiation phase are met.
This is the longest phase of CardioHealth project where a number of tasks are being
executed in parallel and in sequence. The successful execution and completion of this particular
phase will ensure successful project launch.
Phase 4: Closing: The closure or the completion phase of the project is important as in
this phase the final project is handed over to the customers (Mir and Pinnington 2014). Emphasis
is given on project handover and on development of the project closure report.
