INTRODUCTION
Literacy is the ability of reading and writing, in the modern era, it also includes the
capacity to use language, numbers and images and other basic terms which help other to
understand and communicate. In the same way, report main aim is to provide the balance
effective literacy programs for early primary school so that it provides positive outcomes too.
The report will describe the National Curriculum Documents and their purpose and then present
the meaning of effective literacy program. Further, study describe the key element of Australian
Curriculum and discussion with ECT.
Evidence of learning using action learning principles
As per ACARA, which states that it is quite necessary for the young students of Australia
to learn and develop. The Australian Curriculum Is consider the National Curriculum for all the
primary as well as secondary schools in Australia are under Progressive development and
implementation. As education plays an effective role and also assist to reshape the lives of young
Australian so that they will contribute to democratic, equitable society (MacDonald & Polly,
2019). According to ACARA, English plays an effective role for developing the reading as well
as literacy skills and through English, an individual also contribute their best for the development
of a society.
Thus, the National Curriculum also contribute to improve the quality, equity and
transparency of an Australian's education system and it also state that there is a need to be
balance between all pattern of language, Literacy and literature. Recently, ACARA is also
continue to develop the language in curriculum and then provide different material that also
support the teachers that should be implemented in a curriculum.
A literacy program is called effective when it contain all the components which are
necessary for the teachers and now children and parents expected to master the same skills but at
early age. Though teachers faces difficulty, how to read and write for children, but when there is
an effective literacy program which helps the teacher to cope with this situation when it must
posses components such as Phonemic Awareness, Phonic Instruction, Vocabulary, Fluency,
comprehension and Writing (Component of Effective Literacy Program, 2018). For the same, the
Australian government develop Early Year Learning Framework (EYLF) with the agenda of
early childhood education. Its main aim is to provide learning methods to children which can
actually helps them to increase the ability of learning through out their lives.

In Australia, there are different Mutlilit literacy programs are used such that sound
waves, phonic spelling books that helps the children to understand the word in more better way.
Moreover, it is also realized that through EYLF, the students enrich the children's
learning from the birth to five years and through the transition to schools. Further, it also helps
teachers to provide the young children with different opportunities in order to maximize the
learning potential and also establish the base for their future learning too (Salter & Maxwell
2016). This learning program is also based upon the five principles such as Secure, respectful,
partnership, high expectation and equity, respect for diversity and ongoing learning. This
program also allows the teacher to use data in order to creates better and effective literacy
program and even the teacher also use the bottom up approach which support some learning
styles of very children.
In addition to this, using the curriculum, most of the teachers are uses drawings and also
reading rich literary text that are relevant to the content area and they also moves around there. It
is also analysed that through the image and creating scene of the story in the classroom also help
the student to understand themselves in better way. (as mention in picture)

this, Australian Curriculum also provides different capabilities such as Literacy, Numeracy,
Information and Communication.
As per ACARA, literacy is consider one of the essential learning and development for all
the Australian young people and being a teacher, if we all are able to understand the need of each
student, then it will assist to create better teaching and learning programs. Further, in my routine
life and as a teacher, I observe other teacher that they use practical and innovative ideas that
helps student to learn better and more. Apart from this, my mentor also used Phonogram which
assist students to enhance their reading, writing and speaking ability. In the literacy program, it is
quite essential to use best strategy that helps to improve the students capabilities.
Positive outcomes for Literacy program
It is observed that there are six phases in the literacy programs which is usually met by
the time when child start school. Further, they are also exposed the literacy skills from their birth
onwards. Therefore, there are many positive outcome of literacy program such that children start
reading, learning and speaking in well (Parkinson & Jones, 2019). On the other side, there is
need to verify whether the teacher are engaging in right literacy environment and for that, teacher
should play with students in different format such as story telling, sing a song in order to check
whether they speak well or not. Apart from this, the teacher should also busy their students in
block games that helps to maximize their learning and engagement within the environment.
Moreover, another benefit of using literacy program is such that it helps the student to
learn different thing and for that teacher may use sight word display corner in which a child see
the word and start speaking that word. This helps them to read, speak and learn variety of words
in a single day. In Australian curriculum, there are variety of opportunities for the children to
engage in shared reading, writing (Paatsch, Hutchison & Cloonan, 2019). For instance, in
schools literacy game section helps student to develop word recognition ability. Thus, it helps a
children to be familiar with the words and raise their literacy level too. Thus, it shows that using
an effective literacy program will help young children to raise the abilities but it is possible when
the teachers keep participate in these activities, then it helps to leads positive outcomes.

It is required by the teacher to meet the Australian curriculum achievement standards,
elaborations and content descriptors(Park, 2018). I have observed as a teacher that other teachers
4
engage their students in studies by adopting innovative teaching strategies. The teacher try to
make the students read the topic loudly in order to check their reading levels. They also make use
of various technologies such as interactive whiteboards and mobile devices which helps in better
understanding of children as visual learning are more effective. The videos and images are
displayed to children which help them to visualize new academic concepts. In order to check
spelling Waddington spelling test is also used.
The other important teaching strategies which I have came to know is Kinesthetic approach it is a
learning style in which children's learn things by taking part in physical activities(Kurniawati and
et.al., 2016). For example in order to make students learn the English and other activities
teachers various gestures is used which represent vocabulary words, for teaching maths various
mathematical tools such as abacus and protractors is used.
The phonogram was also used as one of the teaching method. For example while the lesson of
English take place the children are performed a small activity in which a children has to put their
hand on head if the phonogram is a vowel but if phonogram is not a vowel than student has to sit
on their hands.
During the interaction with the teachers many of them have advised me to make use of C2C as a
guidelines and it will also help to change the books within unit as per the children's interest and
needs. C2C is designed in such a way that it helps to meet the needs of student learning. C2C is
regularly reviewed and the possible changes is made in Australian curriculum.
By monitoring the performance of each students teachers get to know about knowledge
level of each students and tries to take corrective actions. The various strategies which is used in
order to monitor and assess children's learning and development are :
C2C strategy : In order to access the learning and development of student the teacher make use
of C2C strategy as it help to analysing the development of children. The teachers used to check
the progress of children by taking group notes (Huda and et.al., 2018).
Checklist and success criteria : the other strategy which is used for monitoring the performance
is that the teachers use to set the success criteria and checklist which help student to identify that
what is expected of them. This strategy helps teachers to identify the weak area of student and it
also help to provide proof to the parents about their child progress.
The teachers ensures that all planning which are made in order to assess the development of
student is made on the basis of Australian Curriculum.

Describing resources are used and approaches for program
It has been observed that teachers use various resources for the purpose of teaching. Here
resources are the teaching resources which is used in order to pass the knowledge to student and
to make them learn (Šumak and Šorgo, 2016). Student use ICT with the help of using laptops.
Such as sails, ABC reading eggs, go books, alpha world, galaxy etc. the various information
technologies is used in order to make the learning process more effective.
The Interactive white board is also one of the useful resource which help in making the students
to participate in the learning process(Zhu and et.al., 2017.). The use of interactive whiteboard
helps in improving learning of the students. Other then interactive white board teaching some
other resources of learning are activity books, posters, Work sheets, games and textbooks. All
the resources which is used is as per the guidelines of the C2C unit plan.
These resources helps the teacher to make the learning process more interesting to students. By
use of such resources the children develop interest in studies.
Reflection
This project has give me the opportunity to enhance my knowledge in teaching field.
While conducting the study I have came to know about various teaching strategies, resources and
getting knowledge about Australian curriculum achievement standards. I have found that various
the techniques and programmes used by teachers for learning process. By knowing about C2C
plan and Australian curriculum I found that these two are of immense importance to teachers as
this provide the teacher guidelines which help teacher to assess the learning needs of students
and it also helps them to decide or change the book within the units to make learning more clear
and understanding. I have noticed that how playing and other physical activity helps students to
learn more fast. A research conducted by Onal, Nezih (2017), to reveal perception of students
about use of interactive whiteboard in mathematics classroom. And as a result it was found that
use of interactive whiteboard is however beneficial as it helps students to understand the subject
more clearly and results in effectual engagement. However I also find that the use of interactive
whiteboard is a good learning resource. The project has helped me to gain enough knowledge
which will be of great use for me in future.
