INTRODUCTION
 The accommodation sector consist of a major
part in the hospitality sector.
 The accommodation relates to the place where
people can stay and take shelter with other
facilities such as breakfast, leisure and other
amenities.
 In the further report a basic information about
the hospitality industry and relevant
information bout the accommodation sector
will be discussed.

 Hospitality industry is related to providing
services of different categories such as
tourism, lodging, events, food and beverage
etc.
 It consist of providing basic services and also
leisure services with the objective to satisfy
customer.
 The hospitality industry consist of various
sectors such as accommodation and food and
beverage industry but also consist of tour and
travel.

Different types of accommodation services and distinguish
between commercial and non-commercial businesses.
 Hotels – This category occupies a major part in the accommodation sector
as most of the travellers and people coming with the families prefers to
stay in hotels.
 Motels – This category of service relates to giving convenience of
mobility. They are more budget friendly as compared to hotels and have
apple space for parking.
 Hostels – These are the cheaper type of accommodation and generally
preferred by students as they have shared rooms and bunk beds with no
facility of toiletries
 Self catered accommodation – These accommodations are for people
who want to spend longer period and want their own space to cook and
stay and have Alpine-style wooden building.
 Ski chalets – These are special type of accommodation which have cosy
interior and structure and people who want to take some day off and relax.

Difference between commercial and non-commercial businesses
 Commercial businesses refers to selling the goods and services
and engaging in trading with the objective of earning profit.
Also, these businesses require legal licence for its operation.
They also promote their products and services through various
channels.
 Non-commercial businesses does not promote their products and
services. and they are registered under some government body or
are framed under some specific laws.

Grading and classification system
The grading and classification system is very important when
the guest has to make a decision regarding booking the hotels
or other services for accommodation. The classification of
the hotel is done based on different aspects such as:
 Size and number of rooms
 The location of the hotel
 Level of service and amenities

 Some grading system classifies and informs the guest as per the
quality of hotel and services offered by them. There are various
types grading system such as:
 Star rating - From one star to five star.
 Letter rating – From A to F.

Role played by online review sites
 The reviews and the ranking on the online
review sites such as Tripadvisor do impact
the booking by guests as whenever any guest
decides to book any hotel for accommodation
he looks the stars and rating of the hotel.
 Online review sites make sure that guest
receives good services.

CONCLUSION
 It can be concluded that accommodation sector occupies a major
role in hospitality industry.
 There are various types of accommodation services such as
hotels, motels, hostels etc and also the difference between
commercial and non-commercial business was also discussed.
 Private ownership, franchise, lease and management hotels are
some forms of ownership applicable to accommodation services.
 There are several grading and classification systems such as star
and letter rating and lastly the role-played by online review sites
such as trip advisor was assessed.
