Health and safety are important factors at work places in order to make employees carry
out all their operation's in safe working environment (Aust and et. al., 2013). This helps in
reducing changes of risk and workers can safely carry out all their working operations. Australia
business owner are responsible regarding health and safety at work place they want to meet with
WHS requirements. This report is based on agencies of Australia who are work to solve the
problem of emergency planing its focus on asbestos issues which go beyond workplace safety to
cover environment and public health issues.
TASK 1
2 Importance of Hazard Reports
In any workplace, reporting of any hazards and incidents are an important part of
ensuring safety. These incidents include unplanned and undesired event which sometimes causes
injury, property damage and even can cause death too, and things like electricity, chemicals and
lifting etc. are included to be part of hazards (Droppa and Lee, 2014). So depending on these
serious injuries, it must required to be reported to Safe work and it is requirement by law to take
care of workers.
3 Health and Safety issues raised through consultation
According to Health and Safety Act 1974, employers of any organisation must protect the
health, safety and welfare of all their employees, clients, visitors and the general public
(Gunnarsdóttir, 2014) These regulations set out the standards that need to meet for specific
hazards and risks such as manual handling and machinery work.
WHS act are responsible for regulating and enforcing the laws in their jurisdictions in
each sate and territory and has been implemented in New South Wales, Australian Capital
Territory, Northern Territory, Queensland and the Commonwealth. In 2011, Safe Work(SA)
Australia a single set of this law to be implemented across Australia. The main objective of this
act is to provide a framework for securing health and safety for workers and their workplace by:
ï‚· Providing for fair and effective representation
ï‚· Protecting workers from hazards and injuries by requiring duty holders to minimise the
risk
ï‚· Providing a framework for continuous improvement

ï‚· Promoting the provision of getting advice, information and training
In any organisation, there will be relevant provisions of WHS Act, regulations and codes
that should be applied. To find more relevant information about health and safety, resources will
be 'The Workers Compensation Resolution Service, Fair Work Australia and The dust Diseases
Board'. This WHS act includes the following type of hazards: Physical and Physiological which
includes accidents, injuries and diseases, Socio-Psychological that consider stress and quality life
of workers (Hutchesson and et. al., 2014). The impact of these hazards will be high
compensation charge, lost and poor conductivity time, medical claims, inefficiency and high
work dissatisfaction that affecting the working environment at any workplace. An issue
resolution procedure is a process for dealing with WHS issues that arise in the workplace, issued
either by the employer or any worker (Johal, Schemitsch and Bhandari 2014.) To resolve these
issues, an employer representative should have the necessary authority on behave of the
employers. If these issues is not resolved on time then any one of worker may request to a Work
safe Inspector, who can take actions in accordance with their legislative powers. So these issues
raised by consultation should be dealt promptly.
4 Risk Management
Risk is a situation that involves exposure to danger, which includes the possibility of loss,
injury or other adverse effect. To identifying, assessing and controlling these threats of risk to an
organisation's capital and earning are covered under risk management. It entails: identification,
analysis, response and monitoring and control the risk. In order to properly prioritize the
implementation of this plan in assessment process is critical to make the best educated decision.
5 Health and Safety Legislation
According to The Work Health and Safety(WHS) regulation act it requires a person
conducting a business to ensure health and safety of workers. WHS is used to identify the control
measures that must be applied in the organisation where hazardous activities are done to ensure
worker's safety (Johanson, 2017) The key aspect of this law are considered with safety standards

These key aspects must include adequate consultative arrangements for resolution the
issues, notification and investigation of incidents and compliance with regulations. If safety is
not taken within an organisation then the penalties can be regulated under this legislation, which
can be categorize as-
1. A maximum penalty of $3 million
2. Deals with exposing to risk death or injury, carries fines up to $1.5 million
3. To failure to comply carries a penalty of up $500,000
7 Different ways to monitor compliance with work procedures.
To know if health and safety aspects of company is obeying environmental laws and
regulation it is important to use compliance monitoring (Kushniruk and et. al., 2013). For
compliance with work procedure I will suggest to implement compliance monitoring strategies.
Investigation should be so as to get information and based on that evaluations can be made. Data
collection, review and reporting should be done through off-site compliance. Reviewing of
records is necessary to identify changes to ensure continued compliances. By self monitoring we
can monitor the reports of our own performance as it creates a greater accountability among
individuals. To check self- monitoring actions we can use auditing.
8 Emergency procedures those apply on workplace
Emergency mean dangerous condition which need timely action to control the situation.
In organisation emergency like fire, structural damage, power or instrument failure , gas leak,
confined space mishaps. (Loomis and De Natale 2017) Emergency plan make to ensure safety
for all occupants of affected area and minimise damages, emergency procedure like effective
response to emergency, evacuation procedures, identify those who hold responsibility, medical
treatment, effective communication between authority and emergency coordinator, testing
emergency equipments frequently, give training of instrument handling to employees. Supervisor
plays an important role in emergency situation like knowledge of emergency situations, ensure
that all worker are aware about emergency procedures and they know who are the wardens and
first aid officers (Mitchell and et. al., 2013)
TASK 2
1. How often should risk assessments be conducted
3
Document Page
Company are required to carry out risk assessments when there are any change in
workplace processes, operations precess, or design system, operate new machinery, injury and
incident at workplace as a result of hazard exposure (Shelc, 2015)
2. Health and safety legislation at work place in respect of reporting health and safety issues.
The Australia government make workplace healthy and safety Act 2011 (Cth), its include
right and responsible of employees and employer to keep workplace safe and healthy. Employees
are responsible to follow instructions, training , process and procedures, duty to care other
employees, repost any risk to authority, cooperate with management and employer,
understanding right and responsible. Health and safety are responsibility of employer, employer
obligation are to inspect their work place, immediate examine mishap, make committee for
communication between employees and employer.
4. Different ways adopted by management to encourage workers to use safe work practices and
contribute to workplace safety?
Its very important for management to encourage workers to follow safe work practise and
contribute safety by creating plan to encourage workplace healthy and safety, management want
to inspect company workplace so that they can carry out proper analysis of unhealthy factors,
train employees for safety and security aspects at work place, talk on a regular basis with
employees, examine incidents, keep records, make safety as key part of business (Johanson,
2017).
5)List four ways good work practice can be acknowledged and rewarded in a workplace.
Reward for good performance is necessary to motivate and to create a positive attitude
and behaviour among employees. Four ways through which good work practice can be
acknowledge and reward at work place are by providing them are gift cards, small events, praise,
financial reward, bonuses etc. as it helps in motivating employees and they will effectively

CONCLUSION
From the above report it is concluded that the relationship between health and individual
is very important. The risk of health and safety is more to aged persons so to make their life more
comfortable it is necessary to make some retirement policy. Policies should be made for reducing
stress level in employees. Employees should get compensation for serious work related injuries
and illness.
