Site management
The company chooses to assign the manager to manage construction work and will be
responsible for all the operations taking place in the area and managing all the resources
provided by Scott Construction and Development company for building and construction. For
the project to be successful, a good plan and coordination process is needed, and in different
sections, teams are made that could help in monitoring all activities that are taking place in
construction work (Heagney, 2016).
For the construction of the small-sized building under the company, some equipment’s and legal
requirement of documents on starting the project was required for it to be approved. This is
according to the building Act 2004 s 139BA, where all the guidelines were followed for the
approval of construction. As the manager, had to put in consideration by following the guidelines
in the document to meet the required standards in Australia for class 2-9 buildings (Kerzner,
2017).
Requirements in construction site
Considering all the requirements known for buildings in the country, there is a code presented for
inspection, which is carried out by residents or members within the community (Meredith,
Mantel & Shafer, 2017). Managing the site, the company will schedule time under the
management team for the process within workdays as from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The venue took
place at Pattie Menzies house, 16 street or could also be done online. This was done after
members willingly came to the construction site to see by themselves. Also, regulations were set

aside and were followed by the company as per the ministry of building and construction in the
country (Kerzner, 2017).
Further, as the manager, I requested on the site to build an office to put in all the equipment such
as telephones, printers, photocopiers, calculators and other office equipment that we could use in
the construction site and they were to be provided by the company. On the other hand, good
computers were recommendable to the site for software such as AutoCAD and ArchiCAD to
assist in 2 D and 3 D viewing of the drawings for the proposed building. Manuals from the
library were brought to the site to help in checking the designs that can be rectified for the
ongoing construction and checking the measurements (Ferrada et al., 2016).
The region where the construction process is to take place should be suitable enough to support
all the structures to be built. Also, it has to provide a good environment for workers in order to
perform well in their tasks. The place needs to be appropriate to avoid contradictions later
between the designer and the manager when finding out issues with the structure to be built
(Taillandier et al., 2016).
Work placement: Managing Construction Work
The work placement is in a rural area in Australia, whereby Scott Construction and Development
company takes the contract and is giving me the opportunity for my skills assessment on
management. The company is based in western Austria in the region of Perth. The supervisor
will be in charge of looking after me in all the activities I handle on the construction site. In the
construction company, the supervisor will be reached by my assessor through the following

address; Scott construction and development company ltd, P.o box 360, North beach western
Australia. The information is significant to assist the assessor in knowing where I am assigned.
Construction Worker Observation
Communication strategy in the construction area
As the project began, there were meetings held by the manager and stakeholders of the
company given the contract and team leaders of groups made in construction site for
speeding up the work. The process involved the strategies that were made for the
communication process (Binder, 2016). For instance, the following channels were
suggested in the field; use of fixed telephone and mobile for contacting, memos, face to face
communication, and emails to reports and other documents within the construction work.
OHS
It is the responsibility of the manager to follow up and implement the procedures and
policies of the company in the workplace to safeguard workers from getting injured while
working. The manager takes the responsibility of educating workers in a construction site
to follow the best practices for safety to avoid risks of death. Also, workers need to be
careful while working as directed on the policies of the organization (Fang, Zhao & Zhang,
2016). On the other hand, the company had set out the rehabilitation department to handle
workers that have been injured accidentally. This falls under the observations made by the
manager when the company outlines it is policies for the construction process.
