ASSESSMENT -1
PART A
Explaining contiguous improvement who would involved in this process and what would they be
doing to enable improvement
Continuous development is the most important for the organisation productivity
performance. It helps to create some new working culture and enhance the motivation of
employees as well (Balay and et.al., 2017). CI involves some essential process and goals in order
to meet out the company objectives. It involves employees, leaders, managers who supports the
system and maintained the proper effective management task. It involves some steps or
principles as well such as small changes, new innovation, employee ideas, incremental
improvements are typically inexpensive to implement, employee involvement.
Describing Culture corus is developing and who vision helps to develop the culture.
Corus is the steel manufacturing company which only focusses on the needs of its
customers worldwide and provides innovation solutions and goals. Corus is the conglomerate
company of Tata Steel (Deming, 2018). Process of continuous improvement that helps to create a
good vision and productive culture within the organisation. It helps to give customer satisfaction
growth. Corus is the customer focused organisation that helps company to maintained the
positive culture environment.
Analysing how achieving its KPI will help corus to give its customers satisfaction.
Key performance indicators helps employees to achieve the customer satisfaction
approach. Corus is based on tonnes of steel rolled, for customer satisfaction Corus made some
KPIs to meet the needs such as Zero backlogs of customer orders, this define that, clients get
their products on time. This KPIs helps Corus to achieve the customer satisfaction approach into
more appropriate manner.
Evaluating the key benefits of CI in helping corus to become a more innovative and customers
focused organisation.
There are so many benefits that company get from the continuous improvement process
that, Corus analyse that there are reducing the rate of waste through lean production, improved
product quality, reduced rework time and get faster response time, giving more customer

attraction and orders on time (Ofori-Kuragu, Baiden and Badu, 2016). These are the benefits of
CI that get by the company for better production.
Analysing the CI and how its finding new ways of achieving its objectives from existing
resources
Corus has find out the the best and transforming production which is Scunthorpe plate
mill with the help of Continuous improvement. This process or success also encourage
employees to work as a team and support to other members of the company. The process of CI in
order to meet out the first effective leading process to make the best target performance. Apart
from that, it takes the new best leading process in order to meet out the company effective
performance (Parmenter, 2015). Apart from that, it can also helps to make the long term target
goals for the company development.
Describing the CI that helps Corus to gains more committed workforce which helps to drive
further improvements.
Continuous development process affect the business and new managing effective
business target. Apart from that, continuous improvement workforce helps to drive further
improvements and new process developing task that affect the business growth (Yin, Zhu and
Kaynak, 2015). CI helps Corus to develop new commitments for the business to get customer

Sustainable practice can affect the long term target to achieve the best outcomes and
growth. Sustainable business practice helps to maintained the balance between company values
and systematic approach goals. To create better advancing growth. These practices focuses on
internal business practices which interaction with the external environment.
Analysing LCA is more accurate type of analyse than just looking at the carbon footprint of the
use phase of a material.
Life cycle assessment which assess the impact of all external impacts, Tata Steel needs to
analyse the impact of using harmful raw material and their impact on the carbon footprints. It
affect the overall business image in the market. LCA helps to identify those kinds of effects to
keep the business sustainability in the market (Yang, Leicht, Lago and Gómez, 2018). It attract
long term growth and business environment channel in order to meet out the company
objectives. LCA and Carbon foot print both are the methods to determine the impact of products
and supply chains. Besides, these methods helps to remove all negative effects from the supply
chain management.
Discussed how measurements of sustainability are taken over the entire life cycle of a product
not just the use phase.
In order to keep sustained the long term goals and make the best outcome results and
goals. Measurements and life cycle are the entire affect the overall business goals. Product
leficycle is the process or method to analyse the true image of the environmental factors. This
overall process helps to identify the negative phase from the product life cycle.
Analyse the case and structured and integrated a number of external sources
After observing the Case of Tata Steel would helps to make the new managing
effects on the development process and goals (Yin, Zhu and Kaynak, 2015). Tata Steel

components that process a large number of instructions per second. The micro processor has
evolved significant part of many gadgets. Its main role or functions is send and receive data
to make a computer function well (Fernez-Walch, 2017). Other functions of a
microprocessor are data storage, interact with other devices and time related functions. Its
evolution has been divided into five generations such as First, Second, Third, Fourth and
Fifth generations. The mapping of the Microprocessor is as illustrated below -
Need for innovation
It is essential to bring innovation in microprocessors as its utilization is increasing along
with the increasing number of gadgets. The companies are trying to change the design of
Microprocessors by shrinking it so that it can be used in micro gadgets. It is also important to
focus on improving its processing as people in present world needs everything quicker.
Brainstorming ideas within the team
In order to obtain final idea or judgment, the team will perform Mind-Mapping method, a
manager will take the notes and document all the ideas in the right order. Each and every team
member will contribute their ideas related to the innovation of micro-processor. Every individual
provides their idea and thought, at the end all the ideas will be mixed together to generate the
final idea ( Lebel, Starkweather and Weiss, 2017).The final idea in the brainstorming concluded
that there is a high need for increasing the speed of micro-processors.

Q 1. What is Kaizen? Briefly describe 5S of Kaizen.
Kaizen model aims at improving standardized programmes and procedures and also to eliminate
waste. 5S model of Kaizen is systematic approach for driving continuous improvement and is
explained in brief as follows:
Sort: this step aims on distinguishing and sorting between necessary and unnecessary
things. And removing frequently used equipment’s and resources.
Straighten: this step aims at deciding effectively so that most efficient retrieval can take
place. Everything is kept at place and arranged properly.
Shine: clean working environment is made by removing dirt, dust and garbage. So that
problems of damage, spills and leaks can be identified easily.
Standardize: in this step, standards are maintained for keeping workplace neat and clean.
Sustain: this includes implementation of habits and behaviours for maintaining safety
standards for long term.
Q 2. Describe the difference between disruptive and sustaining innovations. Support answer with
two example each.
Sustaining innovations: It is an incremental innovation where the present product is modified as
per the needs of the market and customers. Here the needs of the person is listened
properly and products are created accordingly. Here the new market is not creawted rather
they keep developing the existing product.
Example: Toyota Porus is a good example of sustaining innovation because the car keeps getting
altered with every new launch.
Disruptive innovation: In this a new market is created which is separate to the main stream, in
this in starting the market is too small and later the firms try to cover maximum possible
market. Here the companies new business models are adopted so that new markets can be
targeted with existing products.
Example: Newspaper industry is the good example of disruptive innovation.

Q.3 Describe how the concept of creativity contrasts with that of innovation.
Creativity and innovation both are two different concepts where in creativity a new idea,
imagination is introduced in the market. There is no risk in creativity as it is just an imagination.
Whereas, in innovation effective change and completely new thing is introduced in the market.
This is a productive change which is risky as the outcomes are nit sure that will be successful
and liked by the people in the market (Brunswicker and Chesbrough, 2018). In addition to this,
Creativity does not consume any money or higher investment but on the other hand, money is
required to be spend while innovating anything new.
