Introduction
Microfinance is a category of financial services targeting individuals and small
businesses that lack access to conventional banking and related services (Brown,
2016). Therefore, it is significant because it gives various services, resources as well as offers
capital to the person and other institutions that do not get the loans, credit etc. In the research
proposal “Critical Analysis of Micro-financing on Youth Empowerment in Developing country:
A case study of Kenya” is selected. It is because it plays an important role in youth
empowerment in Kenya by charging up their lives and enhances their standard of living by
providing them resources according to their needs and requirement (Ranganath, Ghazaleh, &
Liu, 2018).
This topic is important because it balances the consciousness of the youth with their
values, belief and attitudes. It is also significant because of providing their effects so that it
provides information to the government and institutions about their positive and negative effects
so that further corrective actions will be taken. In this research proposal, the conceptual
framework by addressing the influence of Micro-financing on youth empowerment and their
importance in Kenya is discussed. The methodologies which will be used in conducting research
and budget as well as activities conducted in the project are also discussed.
Problem statement
The estimation demonstrates that in the country there are about 75% of the population
which are unemployed as well as the majority of the population does not get on the job training
that is about 92% of the population in the country are not trained in the specific area of the job
(Statistics, 2010). Therefore, to increase in the population that is there is 20% youngster out of
the total population in the economy but due to more continuous increase in unemployment, in the
current year poverty in Kenya is increased. There are various other factors which are increased
and negatively affect the country because of unemployment and poverty which includes an
increase in the infectious diseases among the youth such as HIV/AIDS, increase in the
consumption of drugs and alcohol as well as raise in the crime and violence in the economy
(Mugenda, 2008).

It becomes difficult for the government to deal with these situations and to develop
various policies so that these issues will be overcome. To the development of different strategies
the government makes rules but still, Kenya remains underdeveloped and exploited in a higher
manner (Ullah & Haq, 2018). Therefore, recently Micro-financing in Kenya is developed it is
due to overcome various issues that are present proposal demonstrate that research will be
conducted on examining the influence of Micro-financing strategy on youth empowerment.
Research Objectives
The population of youth is raising and faces various difficulties due to an increase in
poverty and unemployment. This results that through this individual does not satisfy their needs
which includes safety, psychological and other needs such as housing it is because this leads in
raising several issues which is related to health and suffer from the problem of lack of
opportunities (Kim, 2018). Therefore, the research proposal describes that research will be
conducted by investigating the practical means for empowering the youth with the help of Micro-
Financing.
This research will be important because not much of the study is conducted in Kenya to
understand the effects of Micro-Financing on youth empowerment in a more critical manner.
This provides information about the issues that youth is facing in the economy so that further
efficient policies will be developed so that problems will be addressed. It is also significant
because through this government can also organize various programs so that training is provided
and counseling sessions will be developed for the youth so that their personal and other problems
will be solved and youth can gain capabilities to perform efficiently in particular task.
Research Questions
The research question is considered the argument and subject area for which the research
is conducted so that the objective of performing the research will be achieved. The research
proposal describes that research will be conducted to get the answer of "Micro-Financing on the
youth empowerment in Kenya". Therefore, to get the answers various variables will be addressed
which includes problems which youth faced in Kenya will be determined and government
policies to overcome the issues will also be described.
