INTRODUCTIONIn this documentation, we will discuss about the importance of operational managementin Navigant Consultant organisation in order to accomplishment of their desired goals andobjective within the firm more effectively. Furthermore, there are functions of a manager whichmust be applied in different situation in the organisation so that a leader and manager of the firmcan effectively resolve them within the firm in more efficient manner. Moreover, we will discussabout to the key approaches of operational management and the role of a leader and managerwhich play in the organisation in order to accomplishment of their desired goals and objectivesin effective rate. Ultimately, we will discuss about some factors within the business environmentthat impact on the decision-making process of leader and manager of Navigant Consultant firm.TASK 1P.1. Define and compare the different roles and characteristics of a leader and managerLeader: Leader is an individual person in the organisation and in a team which holdleadership and furnish guidelines in order to accomplishing organisational goals andobjectives in efficient manner (Wu, 2012). A leader of a company usually holds theirteam and motivate them in terms of achieving given task at the workplace effectively. Manager: Manager of an organisation is responsible for taking major decision aboutwhole organisation in order to effective management and administration within the firmso that each of department in the organisation will work effectively. Manager makes theirdecision regarding controlling risk in the organisation. M.1. Analyse difference between the role of a leader and function of a managerLeader creates a vision and manager create a goal: Leader make their major focus oncreating appropriate vision for the organisation and make effort in order to accomplishment ofpredetermined goals and objectives of the firm in more effective manner. Leader set the vision ofthe organisation and lead their team at the workplace in respect to meet to their organisationaldesired goals and objectives. Navigant Consultant firm is a specialised in furnishing professionalbusiness services in London effectively. Manager of the firm set up effective goals in the firmmake effort to achieve them in order to achieve them at predetermined time period. Leader task risk and manager control risk: A leader of the company is known as risktaker because of a leader always make effort to do something innovative in the organisation forfirm growth effectively (Loucks and Van Beek, 2017). A leader of Navigant Consultant firm1

always make innovative decision at the workplace so the risk in always being arisen in theorganisation. Manager of the firm always make efficient decision concerning about to controloverall risk in the organisation which occur while completion of task. Leader build relationship and manager build system and process: Leader of NavigantConsultant organisation build relationship with their all team members by motivating andsupporting them in order to accomplishing their given task in the firm effectively. Manager ofthe business major focus on completion of their desired task at the workplace rather thanbuilding positive relationship with their executives. Situational leadership: Situational leadership is an approach in which leader andmanager of Navigant Consultant enterprise who modify and fluctuate their styles inwhich each one of their employee can influence effectively (Li and Jiang, 2011). In thisapproach leader need to change their style according to circumstances in the firm andfollowers are not needed to accept leadership styles in the firm effectively. The leader ofthe organisation change their leadership style in favour of situation to each one needs canbe fulfilled in the company in efficient manner. Contingency leadership: Contingency leadership approach define about to emphasisingthe powerfulness of leadership is all depended in the matching the styles of leadership inthe right circumstances. Navigant Consultant firm leader need change their styleaccording to the availability of resources in the organisation and raw material they arerequired to change their decision according to them in effective manner. Example of the role of leader and the function of manager adopt in different situationalcontextThere is most common factor for each organisation is that, situations are changing rapidlyin the firm because of various activities being done at the workplace. Sometimes these situationsmay be in favour of the organisation and may be not in favour towards the firm. Manager andleader of Navigant Consultant organisation must ensure that how to control some criticalsituation at the workplace so that operational activities properly being done in the businesseffectively (Zhang and Chen, 2014). These are some situations in which manager and leader canadopt such approach to resolve crucial issues of the firm in effective manner. 2
