Introduction
An organization is considered as an entity comprising of multiple number of people who
endeavors to attain the aims and objectives of a business. It is significant to mention that an
organization incorporates leaders and managers within their institution to control the employees
and help them add value to their business and connect with the people efficiently to understand
the merit and value of the work not always in terms of financial benefits but in terms of
recognizing the strategic significance.
The report endeavors to focus on the management structure of an organization and help identify
the roles of managers as well as leaders .The report will also illuminate on the application of
different leadership theories and models implemented on various organizational situations and
help identify the impacts of the managers and leaders on the growth of the organization.
An introduction to the organization and management structure
Facebook is an online social media organization based in California. The website of the company
was launched in the year 2004 by the world acclaimed leader Mark Zuckerberg along with his
Harvard classmates. This online media platform can be easily accessed with internet connection
on any form of devices like desktop, laptop, smart phones. Due to its “state of the art“services on
the multichannel platforms, Facebook has an annual revenue turnover of not less than 40 billion
US $( Lombardo, 2018).
Facebook Inc controls corporate teams as per the business functions in order to manage the
various operational activities all across the organizational structure. The structural features of
their business are typically based on the changing needs of social media services. Due to the
matrix structure of the corporate, some of the function-oriented teams tend to have blurred
boundaries with product based as well as geographic divisions within their organization.

According to the above given structure one can identify the hierarchy maintained by Facebook in
maintain the operations and functioning of their business. The hierarchical structure of the
organization has Mark Zuckerberg as their chief operating officer followed by other
organizational members. Facebook Inc follows the structure by integrating numerous levels of
the commands right from their CEO and other board of directors to ordinary designers and
programmers. After board of the directors come the chief officers like the Financial Officer,
Chief Technology Officer and Chief Product Officer. The function of all these officers is to lead
the finance, technological and product team respectively. The chief operating officer takes the
charge of controlling all the ranks right from marketing, human resource, research and
development (Lombardo, 2018). All these functions are operated by individual managers but
supervised by the COO. Apart from all these, other operations like security, Product, Legal,
Engineering, treasurer, communication and marketing.
