employees who operate the business in an efficient way. There are more than eighty thousand
employees in the company who are operating the business worldwide. Only in UK there are 852
stores of M&S which tells about the reputation of the company. The management of the
company is divided in different categories. The main head of the company is the MD. There are
HRs marketing head, finance head and procurement head that control the main part of the

the company has placed different heads in different part of the business.

employees of the organization. The roles of the leaders and the managers can be different

Management and Operations
Managers: The managers of the organization are the ones who play decisive role in the field of
the business. It can be said that the managers are mainly responsible for taking organizational
decisions in order to make effective changes in the strategies of the organization. The managers
actually want to proceed with the flow of work. They do not bother about the process of work or
whether the employees need any assistance to complete a particular task. They just want the task
to be completed in the given time.
The difference
Managers have employees where the leaders have their followers. It means the manager
want to do organizational work with the help of the employee but if the employees face
any problematic situations then they will not get any help from the managers but the
leaders help the employees in the most effective way and the employees start to follow
the trail of the leaders. That is the reason leaders have followers rather than employees.
Managers are mainly concerned about the work and the result of the work. If any changes
are needed then the managers can only react and give order to the employees to bring the
change wherever it is needed but the leaders help the employees to bring the change in
the organizational environment.
Managers can provide good ideas to the employee leaving the implementation part upon
them but the leaders are the one who play vital roles in order to implement the ideas in
the field of work.
Managers can be considered as the directors of the company who give the direction to the
employees but leaders actually make their own team in order to complete the given task
with ease.
