INTRODUCTION Concept of operations and management is linked with the administration of variousdifferent practices of an organisation for meeting determined goals and objectives. Manager andleader are crucial players that is maintain operations of company. Through this the company canuse the resources efficiently and more effectively (Baboli and et. al., 2014). It includesadministration of human resources, financial processes, raw material etc. The purpose of thisreport is to analyse the role and function of leader and manager as well as their interrelation ofFord which is an multinational automate organisation. It will evolute different approaches ofleadership styles and elements which is influencing decision making procedure of firm.TASK 1P1 Different roles and characteristics of a manager and leaderManagers: This are one of the major players of company who are responsible fordesigning and controlling entire activities of a company in the required or set direction. Managerare those individual who introduce and establish the policies and accurate strategies to determineand plan the practices of worker. They contribute on the various levels of an organisation inseveral departments. Leaders: These are the major players of a company who give their efforts and determinethe objectives of organisation for directing entire company and workers. It has the main role ininspirations and motivation of Ford with their leadership abilities and skills as well as providethem same purpose to work on (Castro and Tomàs, 2011). The main role of the company is tosupport employee and worker to motivate them as well as encourage firm to better and enhancedproductivity. Different between a leader and manager:LeaderManager Leader are the one of edit and set finalobjectives according consequences. Manager bring out the objectives which isdetermined by the leader of Ford. Leader determine and communicate thepolicies and guidelines of organization withmanagers. Manager interact and convey this message andinformation to the employed and other publicof the company. Leader lead the entire organisation and variousManager lead the teams and workers. 1

groups. Leader create and introduce innovative ideas tothe manager. Manager play a large role in the execution ofthose ideas. Leaders concentrate on things. Manager concentrate on people. Major role is to plan and design strategies fordevelopment.Main role of leaders is to encourage and inspireworkers to work.Leader lead and motivate worker forperforming more well. Manager inspire employee and get inspirationfrom leader.Here are role of leader is discussed in the functions of manager: Planning: This is one of the major function of a manager of Ford to design and set theobjectives of company which assure increase in productivity and profitability. Thestrategies which is prepared by the manager of Ford help the organisation in continuousdevelopment as well as managing flow of communication (Chen and et. al., 2011).Leader determine an finalise the plan which is developed by the leader and provide themrequired resources to implement them.Organising: Ford manager organise and coordinate the sources for organisation as wellas help leader in reaching the objectives and vision of the company which they havedetermined to accomplish. Leader motivate the manager of company to enrich theirdreams and make worker perform more effectively. Directing: For manager direct and lead the employee or company in specific direction toachieve objectives and goals of company. Leader is the person who motivate managersand inspire the culture and organisation goals according which entire perform. Staffing: It is the duty of manger of company to select and staff the worker in a way thatcompany can utilise their skills and abilities in productive and effective manner. Leaderwhereas keep the manager and staff motivated to work in right direction with particularvision. Controlling: Strategies which is executed by manager is documented and monitored bythem to make maximum profits out of all operation which is made during implementation(Cheng and et. al., 2012). 2
