MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP ROLES Management can be defined as directing as well as controlling the group of people in an organization which will lead to the attainment of goal of the firm (Schermerhorn Jr, Bachrach and Wright, 2020). It includes the concept of planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling. On the same way with the concept of leadership the leader will influence as well as guide the followers or group of individual towards the goal of firm. the concept of leadership and management plays an important role in respect to an organization and thus assist it its success. Management and leadership roles within Morrison: While practicing the work in Morrison it was observed that the manager and the leader plays an important role in respect to the organization. This is can be justified as the management of Morrison work with the performance of its all function i.e. planning, organizing, staffing, directing as well as controlling. With the performance of activities as per the directed flow of work the Morrison has achieved such success proportion. In the same way the leader also plays an important role in relation with the Morrison. The leader with the executing of its style and skills motivate as well as direct the employees of the organization that will lead to integrate the goal of individual employees towards the organizational goal. As without the implementation of management and leadership no organization can achieve the success because with the aspect of management the activities and function of the organization will be kept on direction (Griffin, 2021). In the same way the leader also ensures the smooth functioning along with motivating and directing the employees towards the organization. In case of Morrison it can be justified with a series of example and activities i.e. with respect to handling of customer problems and issues the management of the Morrison follows a specific process which result in quick respond towards the customer issues. This is all because of the strong management network and functioning, Morrison is able to quickly resolve the issues of the customer problem. Likewise, as the Morrison belong to retailing industries wherein there is an existence of large degree of market competition. Thus, in such competing environment retaining of employees in the organization is a tough task. However, in case of Morrison with the active role of leadership and leader the organization is able to respond to such situation and as a result the retention rate of the Morrison is high. The above few example truly reflect that the concept of management as well as leadership truly follows in Morrison.
Principles of Management: The principles of management that are applied and followed in the Morrison would include: Division of work: This principle majorly follows in the organization in terms of division of the work that will lead to the completion of complex task and thus it would be easy for the organization to accomplish its goal (Church and Alford, 2020). As per this principle the work in the Morrison divides and as a result the work will would be performed. Authority: As per this principle the Manger have the authority in respect to taking of the decision and ensuring that the work will be completed on time (Eichhorn and Towers, 2018). The principle of Authority also applies in Morrison that with the presence of adequate authority the manager take the adequate decision towards the organization. Discipline: As per this principle the aspect of discipline need to be followed in the organization which will lead to employees and the organization to work in a disciplined manner (Rudani, 2020). This principle also follows in Morrison under which the working of organization is guided by disciplines and certain set of rules and policies. Remuneration: This principle deals with the payment of adequate remuneration to the employees as per their role and work. This principle strongly follows in the organization wherein the employees are paid as per their role and performance. Equity: This principle shows that the manager must follow the concept of Equity wherein justice and kindness is followed (Laasch, 2021). This principle also implies in the Morrison wherein the Managers along with following the concept of kindness also imply the justice towards the employees which truly reflect in the workforce of Morrison in terms of its satisfaction level. Other than these there are various other principles which are followed in the Morrison which may include the Unity of command, Direction, order and various other. With the implication of these principles the Morrison make performance of its work along with making an implementation of employee’s participation and the concept of discipline.

Evaluation of work related skills: While making an observance of work related practice in Morrison it was found that there are various aspects which shows that the working of the Morrison is well oriented. The practices which the Morrison follows in its workplace right from the implication of the concerned principles of management till considering the focus towards the employees and their need or participation in the growth and success of the organization is highly appreciable. As per the practices of the Morrison it was found that it enables opportunities to employees so that they can grow, it clearly set its expectation which enable a direction to the employees, it always works towards the enabling of motivation to the employees so that it the employee’s skill and performance will be raised that further raise the performance of the company too. However, on a critical note it was also analysed that the although Morrison offer and avail various adequate work related practices but it need certain level of improvement in it. This can be well justified in case of team working i.e. it need to be cautious and focus towards the aspect of team working. As team working is an important practice which make the complex work to be easy so with the following of this practice the Morrison can further achieve success. In the same way the practice of effective communication also need to be strengthen that it need to consider that with the aspect of enabling effective communication it can perform better and effectively along with the employee’s participation and clearance towards the work. With the aspect of practicing effective communication, the Morrison can make the employees to be directed towards the direction of the goal of the firm. Incaseoftheprinciplesofmanagement,althoughMorrisonfollowsmajorityof principles but it need to make improvement in Unity of command, Principle of initiates and authority and responsibility principle. Although these principles are implied and follows in the Morrison bit with a certain level of improvement like the assigning of adequate responsibility as per authority and performing this function on time need to be improved. Likewise, with the assigning of adequate head to employees the situation of confusion and clashes will never arise in the company. Morrison also need to make an improvement in terms of organization of regular
meeting and encourage the employee’s participation in terms of enabling them to take initiative will further work best for the company. Demonstration of competencies and its role towards the enhancement of professional practice: With the observance of the competencies in relation with the working of Morrison it was noted that the leader as well as managers perform the work with the inclusion of various qualities and skills. This may include the use of leadership, communication, teamwork as well as other skills and qualities. With an observance of such competencies the professional practice of the employees will be greatly enhanced. This will lead to play an important role in the retaining of employees in the organization and thus raise the professional career prospects. As it is a fact that the employees are the followers of their leader and thus the practice of certain competencies by the leader will lead to have a direct impact towards the employees and in the building up of professional competencies and practice. Strategic aim of Morrison: The strategic aim of the Morrison is to build good relationship with the customers so that it can successfully accomplish its goal of enabling food to everyone. Role of manager and their contribution towards the performance and strategic direction of business In order to meet the strategic goal of the Morrison the managers or management plays an important role. With the performance of their function they make planning of concerned steps which will guide the company towards its strategic aim. In the same way the manager with the function of controlling also ensure that the Morrison will be on track and on direction. This will lead to play an important role in the attainment of the goal of the firm. The manager or the management plays an important role towards the enhancement of performance of the business. This is because with the aspect of effective management the organization will be directed towards the direction of specific direction that will lead to raise its performance. The manager with its function that may include the planning, organizing, staffing, directing, controlling as well as motivating the employees would assist the organization in the attainment of the goal of the firm along with the raising of performance.

Along with these function the manager also plays an important role in terms of enabling coaching and motivating the employees so that the goal of the firm will be achieved along with the enhancing the employees interest (Leone, Mantere and Faraj, 2021). With the performance of the concerned function the Manager motivate its employees and thus with the efforts of the employees the performance of organization will raise. Likewise, the Manager with the making of strategic plans plays an important role in terms of leading the organization towards the specific direction. As the concept of management include the direction as well as controlling of employees in respect towards goal of organization. So with the active role of manager the performance of the organization will be improved along with directing the organization towards the attainment of goals (von Krogh, 2020). Likewise, with the aspect of directing or controlling the manager willdirecttheemployeestowardstheorganizationgoalandwiththemeasurementof performance against the standard in controlling the individual employee’s performance as well as the organization’s performance will further be enhanced along with meeting the standards. This shows that that the manager plays an important role towards the attainment of organizational goal and enhancement of its performance. Thus, it can be right to said that the manager plays an important role towards the strategic direction of Morrison with the performance of its role in terms of formulating strategic plans and policies along with delegating the task or the performance of role as coach and motivator. With the performance of such role and action the manager would direct the Morrison towards the meeting of its strategic aim and goal.
