MANAGEMENT 1
Leadership trait that can assist in managing conflict
In the recent competitive environment, it is significant for the leader to possess some
unique trait in order to resolve the conflict. Conflict resolution is all about the communication
that demonstrates the several abilities linked to it. It means that it will be able to extract he
essential details from the employees who are not expressing themselves properly. By
communicating with all the persons who are indulged in conflict will help in knowing the
root cause of the problem. Through this, leader will also be able to provide them proper
advice in order to remove the conflict. Besides this, employees will also learn to work as a
team if the leader will encourage them. In addition to this, it is also the effective trait to know
the common cause of the problem and reach to the conclusion at the end after listening to
both the parties (Kotzé & Nel, 2015).
Ways to improve the communication within organisations
As a leader, it is essential to give the undivided attention to the employees in the
organisation. Maintaining proper eye contact during the meetings and strategies will
encourage the members to stay focused and ensure the proper communication. It is also
significant to take time to listen. Therefore, it is essential to pause for some time in order to
take questions as well as for ensuring the understanding (Mendenhall et al, 2017). This will
help the members in getting every point and thereby ensuring the effective communication.
For ensuring the effective communication, it is also significant to designate a person for
taking notes. The information contained in notes can help in assimilating the information into
the bullet pointed email for sending it to the team as refresher or follow up. This will also
help in communicating the significant information to the respected team members of the
organisation. In this way, it is clear that communication is the form of exchanging the
information. Clarifying and explaining the ideas and thought is significant in the leadership
role. However, passing the information to the team is only half of the equation. As a leader, it
is also significant that its communication efforts inspire the team besides educating them. It is
true that the effects of communication do not appear overnight. Sticking to it for a long time
will obtain the rewards of better communication within the organisation (Salas, Prince, Baker
& Shrestha, 2017).
