INTRODUCTION
Management is an action, a procedure and an centralizing role. It develops as a group of
valuable carry out by a person in performance of some particular project. The process of
management is dynamic in nature and has several explanations which are based on the
disciplinary approach. This case study is going to analyze the roles and function of management
that help the organization to perform better and develop their performance. This case study is
going to examine the function and roles of general manager in Allstyles department store which
was very large shop in the city(Antes, Kuykendall and DuBois, 2019). They had so many outlets
that trading huge range of goods like clothes, furniture, electronically goods carpet and many
more. So there are few roles and functions of management that is acquire by the general manager
of the department and which is mentioned below:

Management functions
Management is the process of planning, directing, controlling, organizing the functions
and group of individuals in the company. There are generally few functions of management that
is followed by the company in order to develop their business and make the company organized.
There are several kinds of function and roles did by the Rebecca in order to enhance more
benefit for the company and these functions are mentioned below:
Planning: planning is the process of thinking about the functions that is needed to accomplish
the targets. Rebecca planned a meeting with their higher authorities to maintain the sales target
for the department. According to her planning is the way that helps them to remove and
overcome the chances of uncertainties and also help them to reach their target in a very
appropriate manner(Bao, and Gao, 2016). Rebecca planned this meeting because she want to
remove all the uncertainties and want to get best outcomes and profitability. Rebecca planned
this meeting because she wants to meet with all the managers of each department and explains
about the pricing strategies and promotional strategies for the upcoming season of sale.
According to her planning provide a assistance for action and for doing activities. Through
planning she can direct their staff actions towards the targets goals and aims. Planning helps her
to set the standards of their actions and performance. Through planning the company improves

their resources utilization. By the use of planning its really helps Rebecca to boost their
confidence and also help her to provide motivation and commitment about their goals and
desired aims . Planning is very helpful for the company because its provide flexibility ,
established teamwork , cater some guidelines to take appropriate decision and enhance focus
and much concentration on the outcomes and results(Taguchi , 2017).
Organizing: organizing is the function which includes developing an framework and allocating
the resources on the basis of planning so that it will help the company to accomplish their targets
and objectives in the very appropriate manner. After planning Rebecca organized a meeting in
order to analyse the requirements of the resources and strategies and assigned theses resources on
the basis of capabilities of employees and requirements. Rebecca held the meeting and then
organize strategies to communicate with their customers. In the meeting she inform all the staff
and employees of the company to reduce the price and maintain the way in which products
should be presented so that it will help them and customer as well to get clear communication
about their strategies like promotion. By the use of organizing its create efficiency of the work
and resources. Rebecca do not want to waste so much time on correcting the mistakes , searching
for data, and solving any issues so that is why she chosen this function in order to spend less
time in these kinds of things. According to her time saving means more productivity and more
resources for the project and assigned task and then more money with best outcomes. For their
departments organizing function makes simple for every worker to have access to appropriate
and applicable information and also help the company to keep all the things in a appropriate
manner and to improve the management skills of the company(Fredendall, Letmathe, and Uebe-
Emden, 2016).
Controlling: Control is a function which supports to analyse and check the problems in order to
take appropriate actions. After planning and organising, Rebecca applied the function controlling
in order to check and manage the situations and problems. Rebecca start monitoring the
performance of their employees. She reviewing the bad performance of the electrical goods
division with their subordinates. Rebecca assigned the task to their employees according to their
capabilities and quality and then evaluate the activities of their subordinates and employees. This
supports in decision making and take appropriate actions by the higher authorities and mangers.
Rebecca took this function because she wants to avoid the contingency and any loss. Through
controlling there are so many things that help the company to perform better and avoid loss and
