Introduction:
The management practice refers to the process which helps the organisation to achieve the
desire level of outcomes in the most profitable manners by managing the all the operational
activities of the organisation. there are various different type of management thought and ideas
which helps the operational manager to compete the task in the most profitable and productivity
manners at the work related places in the company. The operations manager has to look after the
activities that task are compete within the set time period by following the management practice
which will show the member of the team to how to execute the course of action to finish the task
in profitable manners. under this report, the John Lewis , is a multinational organisation offering
good and service such as clothes, house ware product, financial service to the target customer.
there will be discussion on how the management approaches helps the organisation to expand
and grow at the international market. further discussion is on important of motivation in the

How does the operation management support the business aims and objective of the
organisation.
The operation management is a process which includes managing all the activities of the
organisation in systematic manner so that company are able to achieve their objectives in the
most profitable ways. to accomplished the goals and objectives of the organisation the manager
has to control and manage all the function at the management level in the proper manner so that
task can be competed with productivity outcomes and within the set time. The operational
manger has various function to perform at the management which lead to obtain the aims and
objectives of the company. (Barker, 2016)
Fast changes: as the John Lewis operates its activates at the complex environment which keeps
on changing with the time so the operational manager needs to use the different management
practices so that organisation are achieve their objectives. The john Lewis focus on modified

their good and service according to the demand and supply in the market places so that they can
profits.
Lead production: here the operational manager of the organisation focus on reducing the
wastage in the production process and enhance the production process in the management so
that organisation are able to compete the task in the proper manners.
Conflict resolution: the good manager is one who dissolve the conflicts among the team
member so that operational activities are executed properly in the organisation and they are able
to achieve the objective of the administration.
Control and distribution system: here, the organisation focus on having the proper and
effective control over the its operational activities so that organisation good and service are
delivery to the target customer within the set time frame and reach out to many target customer

The operational management helps the organisation to obtain their objectives in the effective and
efficient ways as the operational manager control and manage the task by applying various
managerial concepts at the management level so that all the employees of the working towards
achieving the common objective of the organisation. the effective operational management lead
to better outcomes in the company so that they are able to expand and grow their business s at
the international market place and earn the profits in the long period of time .

organisational structure which helps in achieving the goals and objectives in the proper manners
and give them a way where they can expand and outgrow their business at the international

organisation in the proper way so that task can be performed in the profitable manners.
Contingency approach : it is most important management approaches which helps the
organisation to expand their business to the next level in the target market by making effective
working of all the function in the company . According to this approaches, the manager must
take decision as per the situation present in the work environment but not according the
principles . to get effective results in the organisation manager need to follow this approach to
find the most suitable solution which will helps in competing the task in the profitable manners
and all the function in the management level of performed in the productivity ways which helps
them to grow their business and develop their organisation at the international market places.
This approaches helps the manager to be more flexible in its approaches to manage and control
the situation and take the most profitable decision for the organisation so that they are able to
grow their operational activities and looking forwards for the organisation growth in the target
market places. The work environment of the organisation is keep on changing with the time so
that manager needs to adopt for different management approaches so that they can face the
challenges with the effective solution and reduce the impact of the any threads present in the

System approach: according to this approach, the organization need to follow the systematic
approaches to control the activities of the function and activities at the management level of the
organisation . where the whole task is divided into small units which are interdependent on each
other to perform the all the function in the proper manners and achieve the desire level of
outcomes. all the departments and function of the organisation are inter-related which are to be
managed in the proper manners so that task is performed in the appropriate ways and they are
able to expand their business by making effective and efficient strategies which will help the
expand their operational business. This approaches helps the manager to control the whole
organisation function as a single system so that goals and objective of the organisation can be
achieved within the set time period and focus on growing their management at the international
market place.

The motivation is very important and essential part of the any successful organisation at the
work place, as motivation helps the employee of the company to perform better in the given task
and activities so that organisation mission and vision can be accomplished within the set time
period. in the context of the John Lewis organisation, the manager and leader follow different
type of motivation theories which helps its worker to perform better or enhance their inputs in
the given task and gets to achieve the desire outcomes in the productivity manners. it is
important for the company as employee and every member of the organisation are working for
obtaining the common objective of the organisation . it helps the employee to stay focus on
competing the given task in the most profitable manners which will lead to growth of the
organisation in the long run. Some of the importance of the motivation at the work place are

Puts human resources into action: here the manager motivates its employee to work at their
full capabilities to by building willingness to work in the worker so that organisation pre-
determine goals can be achieved.

relationship with another employees at the work place so that they are able to compete the
activities in the most profitable way. The employee feel that they belong to such organisation and
tries to give their best in the team.
Retaining the employees: the motivation helps the employee to connected with the organisation
for the longer period of time . the motivate worker stay long in the organisation as they thinks
that their work is valued at team.
Some of the motivation theories which will helps the manager to motivate it employees so that
ultimate goals and objectives of the organisation can be achieved within the time.
Maslow hierarchy theory: according to this theory ,the organisation provide the basic need and
desire to the employee which are essential to survive in the work environment. These need helps
the employee to perform better in the given task and activities and achieve the organisation
mission and vision in the set time .
Physiological need: this include basic things such as air, water, shelter, food and clothes which
are needed by the employee at the work place to perform the task in the proper manners. this also
helps the worker to survive in the management level.
Safety needs: employee wants safe and secure environment at their work place so that they are
safe from any kind of accidents and injury at the work ,
Love and belongingness needs: here employees are provide with good love and care at the work
place so that they feel that they are the important part of the organisation. employee are working
at their full potential in the team.
Esteem needs: the employee of the organisation focus on making realize their full capabilities
at the work so that they can enhance their productivity at the work place and tries to obtain the
desire outcomes. (Sak, and Yerlikaya,2015)
Self-actualisation: here employee are able to find out their potential at the work which hells
them to compete the task in proper manners.
In the context of the John Lewis, manager uses different type of motivation theories which helps
them to achieve the desire level of results in the profitable pattern. The manager make bets use
of the motivation as it provide worker to perform better and give their bets inputs at the work
related places .

How does the effective communication and team work support the business performance.
The organisation need effective and strong communication at their management team which can
improve the performance of the its business at the international market. the good team will also
provide a organisation to achieve their goals by enhancing their business performances at the
management level. The effective communication is essential part of the organisation as it helps
in controlling, planning, organizing and motivating the worker to perform good in the task and
stay focus on attainment of the organisational goals. the team is group of people who have
similar kind of skills and capabilities which are formed as a team to achieve and support the
performances of the organisation. communication plays in valuing and developing the customer
relation and better employee management in the organisation.
Clear mission and vision statement: the effective communication helps in stating the mission
and vision agreement of the organisation so that everyone in the company are aware about the
goals of the organisation . (Song, and Li,, 2016
Execution of action: the manager need to communication and coordinated with its employee
and another team member about the plan of action so that task can be finished as per the plan and
in effective manners.
Ideas and innovation: the proper communication and team work help the employee to come
up with the new ideas about the organisation goods and services in the target market place. here
the employee gets aware about the organisation objective and focus on opportunities for the new
and better innovation in the goods.
Strong relationship: the effective communication and team or group work provide a way where
all the employee are able to make the relationship with each other at the work and team helps in
building good relation among the people of the organisation so that company are able to achieve
the desire results.
Constructive feedback: the customer point of view is taken as well as opinion of the employee
are taken by the manger to build better relationship, understating the organisation goals and

The organisation need to form the effective team in their management level so that they are able
to achieve their desire level of performances at the business level. The manager of the John
Lewis organisation follow the tuckman model to have effective team in their management level .

As per tuckman model, the people of the organisation are formed into effective team where all
the members are able to build the good relationship with each other and helps in obtaining the
organisation goals in proper manners. there are five stage which helps the organisation to
support the performance of employees;
Forming stage : under this part, employee are not clear with their roles and duties at the task and
are depended on the manager and leader guidance about the activities. here the senior manager
have power in the team and employee have to follow the orders of the manager and leaders.
Storming stage: under this , there are lot of conflicts and issues among the employee which
will harm the organisation objectives. Every member of the team are working in different
direction which delay the outcomes of the organisation in the long term. Worker are not able to
understand the organisation mission and vision.
Norming stage: employee are provided with their roles and responsibilities about their part in
the given task which helps them to perform the work in proper manners. here the manager helps
the worker in executing the task in proper ways so that organisation are able to achieve desire
results in the given task.
Performing stage: the manager make the plan of action for its employee who have to follow
these to compete the task in better manners as employees are able to compete the activities in
the proper manners . the leader and manager have to look after the requirement of the employee
so that work is completed within the time.
Adjourning stage: here, all the task are compete in the management and all employees are
getting free from their duties in the team and going towards new projects in the organisation. the
winding up process is going on in the company . all the worker have compete their work in the
most effective and profitable manner and now the task is over and worker have ended the
activities. (Thurston, 2019. )
The organisation need strong communication and team work to achieve the organisation
objectives in the most productivity manners. the operational manager needs to builds the strong
and effective communication among the employee so that work is carried out in better ways in
the organisation levels. The team work also equally important which helps the achieving the
organisation goals and objective in the most effective manners.

According to the above discussion, it can be conclude the management practice helps the manger
to make the effective strategies which will help the organisation to expand their business at the
international and all the activities at the operational level are competed in the productivity
manners. the motivation is essential for the company as employee will perform better in the
given task and also improve their inputs. The effective team will lead to compete the activities in
the proper way which will generate more profits.
