Career development refers to the process of evaluation and analysis of personal interests
and skills in order to make decisions regarding the choices of pursuing a career. In this career
research report, I am reflecting upon the information which is required in order to ensure
effective career development and enhancement. The following report focus upon the career of
management and it discuss in detail this field of career development. The profession of manager
is a very reputed profession and is respected and valued by everyone in an organisation.
Therefore, I am choosing this field for the purpose of my career development and I believe
pursuing a profession as manager would help in enhancing my potential and overall personality
development. I am keenly interested in this the job of a manager and wants to multiply my skills
in the area of management as I always wanted to manage people. In this report, the trends
regarding the profession of management are discussed in context of both primary and secondary
research. It also pays emphasis upon skills and knowledge required for the profession of a
manager and critically evaluate this job role.

discussed below:
Crisis management: Crises can be both internal and external and has became a part of an
organisation as it operates in a dynamic environment where uncertainties prevail. An
organisation requires highly competent managers in order to ascertain the extent of uncertainties
and develop contingency plans. The changes in external environment is uncertain and cannot be
predicted with accuracy but managers must be able to ascertain uncertainties and effectively
make contingency plans. Organisations seeks and prefers candidates who have expertise in
predicting changes through analysis market trends and situations prevailing in the external
environment that are likely to influence internal factors of a company.

important trend for individuals pursuing the course of management to have high expertise in

Globalization: In this era, business has redefined the ways in which it operates and the
growing interaction and collaboration among various countries have emerged it as a significant
trend in the profession of management. The main function of management is to getting things
done through his subordinates by maintaining an influential and persuasive personality. This
function of managers requires high communication and interpersonal skills in order to deal with
a range of individuals belonging to different geographical territories. To manage a range of
activities of organisational operations, the manager has to communicate with outsourcing
corporations and outsider directors as the course of managing an organisation has expanded its
magnitude which is not limited to any geographical territory (Horton and et.al., 2020).
Organisations are tend to hire those candidates for the job role of manager who is highly
influential and can manage operations with outsiders in order to facilitate exchange of services,
ideas and technology etc.
