How self awareness and continuous self-development will help me in fulfilling the role
as a successful leader or manager in the future
Managers play the significant role in every organisation. An effective manager tends
to motivate the people who have the capability to carry out the work in proper manner. When
an individual is self-aware, it is easy for him or her to understand the strengths, emotions, as
well as weakness. According to Caldwell & Hayes (2016) it is the capability of the individual
in assessing their own skills and behaviour at the workplace. Nair (2018) that many managers
fail due to the improper and poor relationship rightly states it.
Importance of self-awareness in fulfilling the role of manager in future
By ensuring the proper self-awareness, it will also be easy to take part in several kinds
of activities. The development also includes the practical activities such as attending the
effective and valuable seminars, developing the better network which will future help I
building confidence (Randel, Galvin, Shore, Ehrhart, chung, Dean & Kedharnath, 2018). A
manager or leader is also required to take part in several activities in order to understand
various things. It will therefore help in assessing the professionalism, skills as well as
personality that will be required at the position of manager or leader.
Self-awareness also helps me in controlling and recognising the own emotions so that
it will help in experiencing and controlling the depression even under great pressure.
Appropriate development as well as awareness of the personal values will also enhance the
decision-making ability of me in future. In today’s business environment, it becomes
essential to make the best decision in order to cope up with the competitors. On the inter
personal level, self awareness of the weakness and strength will not only help the person in
building the trust but also increase the effectiveness in leading and managing. In the early
stage, becoming self awareness will help the person in future. It is required by the manager to
interact and understand employee’s effectiveness. Besides this, self awareness also gives the
manager power to communicate, adapt, built, as well as maintain the good team. Proving
proper direction to its employees is the major task of the manager that needed to be
performing effectively (Quinn et al, 2015).

The understanding of self-development will also help in understanding the differences
of other. It is true that person can understand others only when they have understood own.
There is no chance to understand the other people and interact and manage them effectively
when person is lacking self-awareness (Mendenhall et al, 2017). When a person is self-
aware, it is easy for the person to perform well in the organisation. In every organisation, it is
quite essential for the leader as well as manager to maintain the positive relationship (Showry
& Manasa, 2014). All this will play the essential role in so I have to encounter the people
with different values, different styles, as well as different perspective from me. Thus, at the
position of manager in future, self awareness help in understanding the colleagues regarding
my own personality, emotion and reaction to others (Storey, 2016). Self-development of the
skills will allow the manager or leaders to understand the direction where his thoughts and
emotions are taking. Due to this, it assists the manager in controlling their behaviour,
emotions, thoughts as well as attitude in the every changing environment. Due to increasing
competition, managers are the key to bring the success in the organisation by properly
awarening itself with the scenario (Mackay, 2018). The rapid changes in the organisation are
raising the significance of self-development. Self-development helps in leading to explore the
self-identity, self-knowledge, as well as developing the full potential in order to fulfil the
criteria of becoming the successful manager. Similarly, the proper awareness of the
expectation of me will definitely help in the career development.
Self-confidence is the major key to become the better manager or leader in future. The
confidence can be boost by ensuring participation in several activities. For example- a person
can develop its skills by participating inn group projects, or seminars (Noe, Hollenbeck,
Gerhart & Wright, 2017). Similar, all these activities will help me in becoming a better
manager. It might also be possible that the organisation is required to enlarge their business
internationally, therefore, self awareness and self-development will help in a great way to
change the working environment accordingly. Significant cultural intelligence also assists the
people who are form different cultural backgrounds (Caldwell & Hayes, 2016). Therefore,
manager who aware about their personal values as well as set of principles based on their
previous experience always perform better in the position of manager or leader. It is also
essential to learn content and focus on their style of learning. In the words of Sosik & Jung
(2018) the longer period of learning will assist the person in developing the most effective
skills related to behaviour. It managers will be aware of their own attitude towards the
