INTRODUCTION
As the businesses have been expanding their workforce composition has been changing
which mean that the workers belonging to different backgrounds, beliefs, religions etc. work
together in an organisation. It is important for companies to establish an environment of diversity
and equality so that their work can help the company in achieving its objectives. Equality help in
giving all the employees equal opportunities which are important for motivating them to work
efficiently (Appleby, 2019). Diversity on the other hand helps in collaborating the work of
diverse employees so that they can use their ideas and skills in achieving company goal in an
efficient manner. In this report Tesco is taken which is a multinational British supermarket which
deals in groceries and general merchandise. The company employs workers belonging to
different backgrounds, religions, cultures, sex, age etc. which means that it is important to
establish equality and diversity in company. In this report a research is conducted which can help
in implementing management policies which will help in improving the working environment of
Tesco so that employees can work together effectively.
TASK 1
Project planning
It is related with planning the ways in which project will be carried out so that the
objectives can be achieved in an efficient manner. It is important that management policies like
giving feedbacks to employees, increasing inclusion of employees etc. can help in improving the
performance of employees and also encouraging them to work in an efficient manner.
Aim: “To determine how the management policies which help in improving the working
environment of company can be implemented in company.” A study on Tesco.

 To determine the policies which can help in increasing equality and diversity in
company?
 To determine the ways in which such policies can be implemented.

 To determine the impact of these policies on the working environment where workers
perform their work.

Project management plan: It is important that an appropriate project management plan is
developed so that the objectives which are to be achieved through the project can be efficiently
achieved (Bendl and et. al., 2015). In this report following are the deliverables which will help
the researcher in effectively completing the project: Scope: Scope of the project help in determining the various results that are intended to be
achieved through the completion of project along with the ways in which the project
objectives can be efficiently achieved. There are various factors which help in achieving
the scope of the project which are goals, deliverables, resources, equipments, deadlines,
tools, techniques etc. The scope of the project also helps in evaluating the cost of the
project against the worth of implementing the management policies in company which
can help in enhancing equality and diversity in company (Hutchinson, Mack and
Verhoeven, 2017).
 Cost: The cost of the project must be determined so that an estimation of the total
expenses can be done which can help in formulation of a budget so that all the project
activities can be efficiently completed. Determining cost also help the researcher in
apportioning appropriate amount to each activity of project so that they can all be

 Time: It is related with the estimation of total time which will be required to complete the
project within stipulated time while completing the project activities in a desired manner.
The total time which will be required by the researcher in completing the project
effectively is about 3 months as various activities such as collection of data, application
of tools and techniques, formation of team etc. will be done (Kim, 2015). It is important
that researcher apply the knowledge effectively and complete the project on time. Quality: It is important that the research quality is maintained at high level so that the
conclusions which are drawn from the research can be reliable and authentic. For
maximising the quality of research it is important that the researcher use research tools
and methods in an efficient manner and also collect the data from reliable sources so that
accurate information can be collected. Communication: For the completion of project efficiently it is important that effective
communication is established amongst all the team members so that information can be
shared easily and quickly that can keep all the team members informed and on track.
Therefore it is important that various tools of communication such as e-mails, video
conferencing, internet etc. are arranged for researcher so that effective communication
can take place throughout the project (Ravazzani, 2016). Risk: These are the uncertainties which might occur during the project and can affect its
quality or can delay the project. It is therefore important that all the risks associated with
the projects are predetermined so that necessary steps can be taken which can help in
eliminating the risk and completing the project on time. Some common risks which can
be faced during the project are wrong sources of data collection, lack of knowledge of
researcher, wrongly interpreting the results of the project etc. Resources: These are the tangible and intangible assets which are required to complete
the project in an efficient manner. The resources which will be required by the researcher
during the project are team members, laptops, office etc. so that they can be utilised in
gaining the desired results through the completion of project (Treanor, 2016).

Gantt Chart: It is described as the bar chart which present the various activities against
time and the length of bar represent the beginning date, duration and finish date of activity. This
chart is first developed by the Henry Gantt that provide the visual scene of task scheduled
overtime. In other words, they are used for planning the short or long projects and also showcase
the work that is done on a specific day. It help the researcher in determining all the problems or
hurdles related to project so that unnecessary process can be eliminated from the project and thus
provides an effectiveness of the project.

Work Breakdown Structure (WBS): This method is regarded as the most effective tool
that provide assistance to the researcher in breaking down the project into multiple components
as it organizes the team work into various sections (Fortin, 2019). Also, it provide the framework
of overall planning and coordinating the activities to achieve the desirable output and it also help
in minimizing the complexness of the project by branching them into manageable task so that all
the members of a team can do their best to perform the task in an efficient manner and to
accomplish the project within limited period of time.

Primary and secondary research
Research provides the systematic way of study that help to describe, predict or issue by
using the scientific method. In other words, it provide the way of collecting necessary
information by coping up from all the issues and through creating new theories. The various
tools that are used by the researcher to collect, interpret and evaluate data to make best decision
for accomplishing the objectives of research.
Qualitative research method: It is defined as the market research that emphasises on
obtaining the data through open ended in order to collect more deep information about the
behaviour, attitude, perception and nature of respondents that has been ascertained by the
researcher. There are various types of quantitative research methods such as focus groups, case
study research, in depth interview and so on and also this method is more communicative and
descriptive in nature (Kendrick, 2015).
Quantitative research method: This refers to systematic investigation that provide the
values in numeric form in various ways such as statistical, mathematical and various
computational techniques. The aim of this method is to check the arithmetical accuracy by
achieving the accuracy of results from various research methods that should be logical and
statistical. Questionnaire is the best example of this type of research.
Sources of data collection:
Primary: This method is widely used by the researcher to collect information from direct
sources rather than from books, magazines or newspaper. The information is gathered by the
researcher through polls, interviews and questionnaire and so on but this method is considered as
expensive and time consuming (Hass, 2017).

Secondary: This method involve collection of information from various documents such
as public libraries, websites and many more. This method is regarded as a costly method as
compared to primary and this method is considered most popular among the businesses and
organisations.
Sampling: This refers to a process of determining the portion from large number of
population on the basis of analysis that has been performed. It provide the basis of collecting
accurate information and help to accomplish the goals of a business enterprise. The sample size
is determined on the basis of features and methods of diverse population. Furthermore,
researcher is using random sampling method and chooses a sample size of 30 in order to gather
information.

There are various ways which are followed in Sainsbury to motivate its employees so that
a friendly and inclusive workforce can be created. Out of the 30 people 10 say that regular
feedbacks are given to employees based on their performance, other 10 say that performance

The working environment where equal opportunities are given and diversity is promoted
many benefits can be gained by company. Out of the 30 respondents of Sainsbury 10 say that it
can help in improving brand image of company, 5 say that it help ion increasing employee’s faith
in company and the rest 15 say that it can help in improving the performance of employees.
Recommendations
In order to collect data from authentic sources the researcher used quantitative method of
research so that interpretations can be drawn which are based on facts and findings and which
can help the researcher in making recommendations that can help the company in devising
policies that can increase an inclusive and diverse workforce in company (Dybå and Dingsøyr,
2015). The respondents that were chosen in both the companies were employees of company
who can give better information about the company so that authenticity and reliability of
collected data can be increased. With the help of above data and the interpretations made it can
be seen that an inclusive and diverse working environment can help the company in boosting its
overall productivity in competitive marketplace thus giving it a competitive edge in market. It is
important that equal opportunities are given to all the employees so that they can grow and
develop both personally and professionally while working in the company that can help in
increasing their work efficiency and performance. Following are the recommendations that can

be followed by Tesco so that it can effectively implement equality and promote diversity in
company so that a productive working environment for employees can be created:
 The managers of company must treat all the employees equally and fairly on a regular
basis so that they can be encouraged to put their efforts in achieving the goals of
company in an efficient manner (DeFillippi, 2015).
 Training and development programmes both for managers and workers must be started in
company so that they can accept a diverse working environment and can treat all the
employees and co-workers equally irrespective of their cultural backgrounds,
experiences, caste, religion, sex etc.
 Group activities must be promoted in company so that a friendly working environment
can be created in company which can help all the workers to collaborate their work
efficiently.
 Performance appraisals can also be initiated in Tesco so that all the employees can be
encouraged to work in an efficient manner and increase their working skills which also
help ion developing a healthy competitive working environment in company.
TASK 4
Reflective part
Tesco is an international business which is headquartered in UK and deals in groceries
and general merchandise. The company employs many workers who belong to different cultural,
religious and national backgrounds and have different set of beliefs, faith and values that shape
their experiences. This increases the importance of equality and diversity in company so that all
the workers can work in harmony and collaborate their work so that company objectives can be
timely achieved. The research I conducted was in the reference of company regarding how
company policies related to increasing an equal and diverse working environment in company
can affect the daily activities of employees and impact their performance. The topic was very
interesting as it helped in expanding my knowledge about the importance of a workforce which
is diverse and treated equally. Equality means that all the employees are treated equally
irrespective of their differences which help them in seeking equal growing opportunities in
company so that they can use their skills and talents to grow both personally and professionally.
Diversity on the other hand is related to having a workforce belonging to different back and

experiences so that a variety of ideas are available for company to innovate its processes,
products and services so that a competitive advantage can be achieved in market. With the help
of my previous knowledge on how to conduct a research and use various tools and techniques so
that research can be efficiently done helped me in completing the research on time and in an
efficient manner. This research has helped me in sharpening my research skills which will be
helpful in my further studies and also help me in getting projects of research in future which will
give me a chance to earn.
The interpretations which are made by me based on the data collected which were from
authentic and reliable sources can help the company in implementing such policies that can help
in encouraging an equal and diverse workforce in the company. During the research I faced
certain problems regarding deciding the sample size of population and selecting the respondents
who can answer the questions of questionnaire but then I used a random sampling method so as
to help myself in collecting the required data. I use my research skills so as to conduct the
research effectively. Also I collaborated the work of team members through effective
communication skills so that efficient results can be drawn. During the research I faced certain
problems like time management, scope management etc. which I tackled efficiently by the use of
Gantt Chart and WBS and other tools so that research can be effectively completed. After
completing the report my research skills have improved along with expanding my knowledge on
the topic.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that for an organisation to gain a competitive
edge in market and to create an effective working environment it is important that an inclusive
and diverse working environment is encouraged. This can help in boosting the confidence of
workers and also improve their performance which will help in increasing the overall
productivity and profitability of company. This will also help in enhancing the trust of
employees in company which mean that they will utilise their efforts in achieving the company
goals on time. This also help in increasing the brand image of company in market thereby
attracting more customers to company and also help in retaining its highly talented and skilled
employees.

The current project is mainly related to the Analysis of strategies due to which the company could
overcome the impact of equality and diversity within the organisation in according to the study of
Tesco.

Absolutely yes, the project succeed in its aim in according to my view through various ways such as
questionnaire, sampling method and so on.

My communication skills are excellent which help in collection of data through respondents as it also

What problems emerged during the project and how were they tackled? Was there timely

While conducting this research, there is rude behaviour of employees which is a major issue. Yes, time
is another issue which create the major impact during the research. In order to overcome this issue, I will
use Gantt Chart.
